I am so excited to have a surgery date... I am going to Dr. Ortiz in Mexico... does anyone have any advice on a packing list? I have loose baggy clothes and chewable gasX, and my laptop to stay connected to the world... I have been practicing my new diet plan... I ordered some protein samples from Unjury.com and I have tried some of the local health food stores and their supplies... So far, Walgreens chocolate flavor tastes the best and it has lots of protein... 39 grams... but it is a BIG pack... almost 2 oz of powder... How active was everyone after surgery... I play alot of tennis and am really sad that I will be out of commission for a while, but I want to get back to it as quickly as possible without hurting my surgery stuff.

Hi Christine, Here are a couple of informative sites that I found to help us get ready for our trip! I know that I will forget something! I know I can't be without my favorite pillow Where will you be staying in Monterrey? I am making arrangements at the Hampton Inn. Stay in touch and I will see you there! Thanks for the headup about the protein drinks. I have heard about the Unjury as well and was told that it is one of the better ones. I better get with it, you're ahead of me! Opps, I forgot you were going to Tijuana...so I won't see you in Monterrey Also, I saw where Dr. Ortiz has written a lapband book, haven't heard any responses about it though. Let me know if you know about his book and if it is worth buying. Thanks Ally

Congratulations! Dr. Ortiz did my lap band surgery on July 5, and I am very happy with the results. Even though my BMI was "only" 36, I have lost 25 pounds, and will have my first fill on Monday. You don't really have to take a lot of stuff with you. The Lucerna is well-equipped (coffee pot and hair dryers in rooms, and great room service). Take a robe so you can walk the halls in the hospital after surgery. Take loose clothes to wear home. Take something to read in the hospital and/or while doing pre-op testing. I took Liquid Adult Tylenol with me, although I really didn't need it. I also took Gas-X and a heating pad, which I didn't need, but I let someone else use them. If you don't want to lug your laptop (because of the trip home) you can buy computer access cards to use the computers in the lobby of the hotel. Good luck! You are going to love your band. K
