Hola!
I love it so much here. My husband and I have actually talked about getting a place down here! The architecture and colors are so brilliant. The landscape is to die for. I still miss my home, but home is wherever you make it, right? So the ideas and thoughts are rolling around about Ensenada! We'll see!
SO!! I'm gone a few days and there's a huge spurt of new faces around here! Well, names anyway. Anyhoo! I just wanted to say welcome to the newbies!! And a big THANK YOU to all for your support and love that you have shown me the last few days. And months prior. I really appreciate it!
I feel excellent today. I even went shopping for awhile. I found some jewelry that I LOVE! Rosella dropped us off and picked us up. That girl has got one busy schedule being an assistant to her Dad. I admire her for that.
I hope you are ALL well!
Cheers!

Donna,
Hi! I've been here since last Wednesday. I had testing done on Thursday, and surgery on Friday. It was cheaper to fly in a day earlier than necessary, so we had a little fun while waiting. I leave Ensenada on Friday, but don't fly out of San Diego until Saturday. So thats........ 11 days with travel and stay all together! You by no means have to be here that long if you're planning on having your doctor take out the g-tube and stitches.
Dr. Aguirre only does open RNY. I could have gone to another surgeon that does lap rny, but I wanted a surgeon with experience and one that really did a good job. It's an art, and I wanted the best!!
Thanks!
Cheers!
Lorraine
Hi Lorraine,
We haven't formally met but I am one of the newbies. You have actually been my inspiration while I have followed your journey thus far. I have been denied 3 times by insurance and I may be going self pay so I am preparing myself, or I am just getting ahead of myself because a request is with my employer right now.
Anyways I was wondering besides the shopping, etc. you have done (your a woman, how can you not go to Mexico and shop ) how much have you paid out of pocket for services rendered. I understand that your wonderful father paid for your surgery but other than that. I would appreciate some insite.
Oh and congratulations on your uneventful surgery and your quick recovery. Sounds like you are doing great.
Thank You
Jennifer
Jennifer,
You can never be too prepared!! Keep your options open and make sure you do your research and things will fall into place the way they're meant to.
Yes, I was blessed with a Dad that sold his house and made a bundle!
Anyway, here's a break down for my trip:
Surgeon: $7,400 (includes hospital, nurses and all that jazz)
Asst. Surgeon: $2,000
Lodging: $800 (this will be different according to your trip. Others traveling with you, hotel or apartment, nurse or not)
Airfair: $1,200 (again will differ. I'm from Toronto, so had farther to travel, and I brought my husband and son with me for a total of three tickets. And of course this is high season, so things are a bit more expensive)
Transportation: $350 (this is for transportation from the airport to Ensenada with Bambi. Can be different depending on how you decide to get there. Bus, rental car, or Bambi)
Others: We brought about $480 for shopping and food and still have some left. I bought some expensive pieces of art and jewelry, so it sucked up the money a little faster. (What can I say!! ) Food is pretty inexpensive down here. My husband and son have been enjoying take out and delivery almost on a daily basis.
I hope that helps!! I've had a blast and can't wait to drop some of these pounds!! I don't regret a thing!
Cheers!

Hey Lorraine,
Glad to hear you're doing so well!!! Things have been hectic & crazy for me but that's another story.
I'm so happy to hear that things are going well for you and you've enjoyed your time in Ensenada.
By the way, make sure you tell Kaleb that Danielle sends a very big hug & kiss!
Hugs,
~Sharon~
Sharon,
I am sorry to hear about your husband. I have a very stubborn father when it comes to his heath, so I know how it can be hard to have sympathy sometimes. But we love them anyway!!
I'm glad your home and healing so exceptionally! Kaleb is just starting to get through his heartbreak over Danielle. He was in love ya know. I explained that she already had a love of her life at home and that there are other fish in the sea.
I am really itching to get home. The days are dragging like nobody's business. I don't want to spend any more money shopping and Bambi and Rosella have been pretty busy these last few days.
Anyway!! Kaleb and Bang say hi!!
Cheers!
Lorraine
I love seeing your smiling face and reading your posts!!! I'm so glad you are enjoying your time in Mexico and that everything has gone well. I am a little jealous that you are amoung the silver shops. I have quite a collection of Mexican jewelry that I love!
Congratulations on the beginning of a new and exciting life, Lorraine. The next year will be such a metamorphis for you (although I can't imagine you coming even MORE out of your cocoon!)
Best Wishes
Kathleen
