lap rny w/ dr aceves

i would like to hear about lap rny by dr aceves from some patients. i hear alot about banding.not much is said about rny. thanks alot ,vicki g.

Hi Vicki! Though I did not have your doc, I had lap RNY on 6/3/05. The actual procedure is extremely similar, you have the 5 "punch" holes in your stomach and they fill you abdomen up with air to do the procedure. Recovery time is pretty much the same too, you are up and out of bed within hours of your surgery. I was kept in the hospital for 1 1/2 days and banders only stay overnight. I chose RNY over banding for many reasons, gettin fills in new england is near impossible and I knew I would learn to eat around the band. I'm glad I made the choice I did, it's working well for me.
