Ok, I thought I had checked into everything, but I must be missing something. What is the ring on the stoma? Is this a device that the doctors use? Any info or where I can find info on it would be great!! Just a little confused. Jen

Yep, a ring is mostly used during lap bands, but some doctors are now/have been adding a small ring if they perform an RNY. RNY and lap banding is ENTIRELY DIFFERENT. But, some surgeons are/did add a ring around the RNY stoma so it won't grow in years to come. I don't know of any doctor south of the border who is doing this. Most don't like it because of the risk of the stomach/intenstine whatever... growing around the ring, or the ring cutting into the stomach/intestine. A very good, very popular doctor who performs bariatric surgery and plastic surgery uses this... can't think of his name and the phone is ringing otherwise I would research this prior to post. ...
