Lap or Open?

Hello! I'm considering using Dr. Aguirre, and I'm curious if he does Lap also or if it's just Open? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Danielle

I had Surgery with hin on Jan 25 2005 and he does Open... Tracy 375/268/200

He only does open. Your incision would be from your breastbone to just above your belly button.

HI DANIELLE I'M PRETTY SURE HE ONLY DOES OPEN RNY. THERE'S PROS AND CONS TO EACH PROCEDURE. BUT I PERSONALY DONT MIND THAT HE DOES ONLY OPEN. I'VE SEEN SCARS ON SEVERAL PEOPLE WHO HAD OPEN AND THE SCAR IS NOT THAT BAD TO ME. BUT THATS MY OPINION. OTHERS MAY NOT WANT TO HAVE A SCAR LIKE THAT. AS FOR RECOVERY SOME BELIEVE IT TAKES LESS TIME WITH LAP RNY. AND TO A CERTAIN POINT THAT MAY BE TRUE. BUT WEATHER OPEN OR LAP RNY YOUR "GUTS" ARE CUT UP AND REARRANGED. SO INTERNAL HEALING IS PROBABLY ABOUT THA SAME. BUT FOR OUTWARD HEALING THE LAP INCISIONS PROBABLY HEAL QUICKER BECAUSE THEY ARE SMALLER. I AM GOING TO DR. AGUIRRE BACAUSE I HAVE HEARD SO MUCH GOOD THINGS ABOUT HIM.MY SURGERY IS NEXT TUESDAY THE 31ST OF MAY. YEEAH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CAN HARDLY WAIT. I WISH YOU THE BEST IN YOUR WLS ADVENTURE. Hello, I am having the lap RNY fobi with Dr Aceves in Mexicali on May 24th. He only does the band and Lap bypass, not open. He is a little more expensive then the others but I have a good feeling about him and I have heard and spoken to others that raved about him. Good luck. David
