What about Smokers?

My date is set, and all the plans are almost made. It is amazing how many people want to get the surgery after you tell them that you are doing it. My close friend wants to go to mexico and get the surgery, she is however, a smoker. I told her I didn't think you could get it done if you smoked. But I really don't know. I don't want to discourage her, but I would like to see her stop smoking. Anyone have any feedback on this?

Hi Richard! Just wanted to let you know that I smoke....I tried to quit but failed misserably at it. Dr. A was a little disapointed with me but I had no complications from it. I think general health is what you should be most concerned with. She will be encouraged to quit, and will not be allowed to smoke while in the hospital. But should be able to have the surgery done.
