I HAVE A TWIN SISTER WHO IS ALERGIC TO DEMERAL, CODENE AND VICODIN. SHE HAS ANAPHYLATIS SHOCK FROM THEM. SHE IS OBESE SUCH AS MYSELF. WE ARE FETERNAL TWINS AND I DONT HAVE ALERGIC REACTIONS TO THESE. I WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE KNOWS IF SHE COULD STILL HAVE WLS IF SHE IS ALERGIC TO THESE. I DONT KNOW WHAT KIND OF ANESTHISIA THEY USE IN THIS SURGERY. SOON WE WONT LOOK LIKE TWINS ANYMORE AND THIS HURTS HER. I FEEL TERRIBLE. I AM HOPING THAT THERE IS SOME WAY THAT SHE CAN HAVE THIS SURGERY TOO. BUT I DONT WANT HER TO DIE HAVING IT. I KNOW THAT SHE WOULD NEED TO SEEK PROFESSIONAL DR ADVISE ON THIS. BUT I WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE MIGHT KNOW OF ANYTHING THAT CAN HELP ME ENCOURAGE HER TO LOOK INTO IT. ABOUT 17 YEARS AGO SHE HAD GALLBLADDER SURGERY AND WAS TOLD BY THE DR. THAT THEY HAD A SLIGHT PROBLEM. BUT HE DIDNT EXPLAIN TO HER WHAT IT WAS. AND ABOUT 6 YEARS AGO SHE HAD TO HAVE A VIEN STRIPPED FROM HER LEG. IT ENDED UP GETTING INFECTED AND SHE ALSO DEVELOPED DEEP VIEN THROMBOBSIS. THEY GAVE HER A SHOT IN THE LEG WITH DEMERAL TO HELP WITH THE PAIN. AND SHE IMMEDIATLY WENT INTO SHOCK. THANK YOU CINDY

Oh Cindy, that makes me so sad to hear. I have a sister who is going with me for support for the surgery. We have always looked alike and many people think we are twins. I think watching me and my mom have this surgery is going to be very difficult for her. My mom has already lost so much weight and I am hoping to have the same success but for right now my sister has not made the decision to get WLS. I know our transformation will be difficult for her. I pray things work out for your sister, try to contact Rosella and see exactly what medicine they use to put you to sleep. Maybe your sister will be able to use something else. Best of Luck and I'll be seeing you soon Ronda

You would need to ask them what they are using. There are different types of narcotics that they can use. Dr. Gomez used to use a morphine ****tail but I requested anything but and he used something that sounded like superol instead. But I know there is a different anesthesologist there now. Morphine always made me nauseous in the past and the last thing I wanted to be doing was throwing up with a belly full of stiches. Another reason why I also did not want nor get the epidural! I am sure a substitute can be found for your sister and I can relate on how she is going to feel. My sister had surgery about a year before me. She weighed almost 400 pounds and now weighs 145. Was I jealous? You bet!! My mom had surgery a month after me and has gone from 280'ish to 180'ish. I, myself, went from 345 (355 at my highest) to a present weight of 172 so I certainly hope everything works out for you both.
