Help please!!
Tamara,
You are not a big baby. I had surgery 2 1/2 weeks ago and I still don't feel as good as some of the people felt 4 days after surgery. There were 5 surgeries all in a row while I was down there and 2 of us did not end up feeling GREAT! when we were done. In fact the 2 of us still feel quite crappy. The people who feel great are able to get on the boards and post..the people who are struggling a bit, aren't able to get on as frequently and post, or don't feel like posting their true experience and bringing everyone else down. So don't think you are doing poorly or being a baby because you are still in pain. It is a very painful process and some of us heal differently. I know how scared you are...I was there too. I questioned why I did it...I questioned if it was really worth it...I was truly afraid.
If you want to talk, please email me directly. I'm sure I had some of the same fears and thoughts that you are having.
Just don't compare yourself to the people that are doing so well. Some people think its a competition..and it isn't. Your only job is to get better now.
Email me if you want to.
Hope you're doing ok.
Lisa
Tamara,
I notice some of the posts say that some won't say how they felt if it was a negative. Everyone is different. My friend who had surgery the same day I did, same Dr., was up and walking hours after waking up while I went straight from surgery to ICU for 2 days. When they brought me back to my room, she was standing there to greet me. I couldn't hardly get up while in the hospital while she walked the halls several times a day. Over the last 11 months, she has lost 20 more pounds then myself, but we are wearing the same size, and she can eat almost anythng with no problems and I still have problems off and on. We are both very happy with our decision but we have each had a totally different experience. It takes time to get your energy back and feel well. No 2 people are the same. Things will get better and probably sooner then you think.
Hugs,
Kay
