5 weeks post op & 8 weeks pregnant...
You're right Sonya, the doctors can't make you terminate. However, they are telling you this for a reason. Their first obligation is to you and your health. It seems from your post that you are ambivalent about a decision to terminate or not terminate. You decision will have to come from inside you. I don't personally have a moral compunction against abortion, so I know what I would do in your situation. Others have very strong feelings against abortion, so they will tell you not to do it no matter what. Look inside yourself and really weigh the options from a medical point of view and then from a spiritual point of view.
Of course there are many women who are malnourished and still give birth to healthy babies. There are many more who have miscarriages, stillbirths, or babies with severe problems. And while many people believe that god performs miracles every day, what about the people who pray and pray and pray, and still lose someone precious? I know this isn't a popular point of view on the board, but I firmly believe in *reality* and *practicality*.
I believe that women should be supported no matter what their decision is in a case like this. You have to do what is right for you and your husband and your exsisting child. You can count on me to be supportive no matter what you decide.
First of all...you and your family are in my prayers.
I see tons of pregnant woman on TPN simply because they can't tolerate the nausea in pregnancy...and there is nothing medically wrong with them. They CERTAINLY can do it for you, who has a legitimate medical need for extra nutrients.
And just an end note...I watched a 3-hundred pound woman with a 30 pound fibroid in her uterus who was three months post gastric bypass give birth to a beautiful little girl.
Sincerely,
Yasie R.N.
