Struggling a Bit

So  a group of 11 people ( in my small town) ( all at different times within a year)  went to Mexico to have WLS. 2 have gone back to have more cosmetic surgery done as well....after the fact. They all used the same surgeon, Dr. Almanza..all speak of their great experience.....some of the things they talk about have also been talked about on this forum ( as far as the reviews, facility , staff ect) ect. Some of these gals work in healthcare. But honestly from what I read on these forums and online...he has the worst reviews. I want to book my surgery...mostly because I see the results they have had.....and since I have first hand knowledge-> I think I should trust these people? But I am actually thinking of going to a different facility. I am thinking Any of the 3 Doctors at the Mexico Bariatric center would be good.  So Should I trust first hand accounts? Or go with my gut instincts and trust all of the reviews and information on this site?

Do any of you have a personal Experience with Dr Valenzuela? Dr. Cabrera? Or Dr. De Leon?

Or do any of you actually have a good experience with Dr. Almanza?

It's all the same price roughly.....I just don't want to choose the wrong Dr. ( like anyone would want to do that)

Thanks in advance for your input.

Hi there - I can't comment on any of the doctors you mentioned. Only because my hubby went to Dr. Joya. We didn't research anyone else - because we knew people - two of them very close to us - who had gone there. He is more expensive - but coming all the way from Newfoundland, Canada - we really weren't interested in making the trek over the border from US to MX. It was just simpler, and meant shorter travel time overall. So why am I replying to you? This is life changing surgery, and a major surgery. I really feel that you should talk to the people in your town who had the surgery - if they are open to that. Failing that - get in touch with people on here who had the surgeon you are thinking about having. I can't for the life of me understand why anyone would not give you an honest account of their experience. I would not completely trust the websites sponsored by the individual surgeons or bariatric programs. They are, after all, advertisements - meant to attract business. And there are lots of ads in this obesity help website. I would tend to trust what people tell me on this message board and what people tell me. My last bit of advice to you- perhaps the most important is - if you have ANY doubt about having surgery or about your surgeon or about the hospital - DON'T go ahead with it. Wait until you are 100% sure and certain and comfortable with your choices. Then - GO FOR IT! Wishing you the best of luck!

Mary

I also saw bad comments about Dr Almanza. It sound like a factory and he does like 12 surgeries a day. I read an article by a guy named Steve that had a very bad experience with him. I plan on using Dr Ortiz at A Lighter Me. I have spoken to about 6 people who used him. I also chatted with him on his FB page. Good luck!

I have obsessively researched for weeks now and Iv narrowed it down to Dr. Corvela, Dr. Rodriguez, Dr. Wilhmey maybe Dr. Ariel Ortiz and maybe Ramos Kelly and I'm right now checking out Dr. Illan, I would never even consider Almanza after the things I have read.
