I'm considering either Dr. Juan Lopez-Corvala of Tijuana or Dr. Jose Rodriguez Villareal of Juarez to perform my surgery.  I need to make a decision soon.

Please share if you have experience with either of these doctors.  I want to hear the good as well as any bad experiences.

Thank you.

Congratulations!  You don't have much longer to wait.  Please post afterwards and let us know how you're doing.

What were some of the things that led you to choose Dr. Corvala?  (I just realized that I misspelled his name in the title of this thread.  My apologies for the typo.)

Hello again,

It all started when I first told my Mom about researching the option of going to Mexico for the surgery.  She works with, and is, close friends with a woman who is from Mexico and has been working in the States for about 3 years.  I specifically wanted to know what the friend thought of medical care in Mexico.  She came back and said very complimentary things about the medical care in MX.  She had suggested the Hospital Angeles.  So I looked into that and read about Dr. Corvala on the hospitals website.  Then I found his site and read some more.  I used the SEARCH function on this page to read reviews and I also Google his name and Patient Complaints.  The thing that sealed it for me is an article that was posted on MLIVE.com http://www.mlive.com/news/grand-rapids/index.ssf/2013/09/weight-loss_surgery_in_mexico.html

I'm from MI so I felt a weird sort of kinship - like this was more trustworthy of a source or something.  She also wrote a short follow up: http://www.mlive.com/news/grand-rapids/index.ssf/2013/09/mexico_weight-loss_surgery_upd.html

I also liked the fact that Corvala trains other surgeons.  They don't let just anyone do that.

I feel confident, but also a little freaked out.

Through my research I found this site as well:  http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/p/my-story.html  This woman had a different type of WLS, but she has lots of great stuff on her site.  I cannot tolerate artificial sweeteners so I bummed that alot of "lite" recipes have them, but oh well!
