Flying after surgery?

I'm looking into cash pay options in Texas (where I live) and Mexico. But my dad has some major concerns about flying just a few days after surgery. I have never flown before, but from what I understand it can be uncomfortable enough as an obese person let alone after surgery. Does anyone have any information on this subject?

Hi! I'm in Texas also. I'm leaving tonight for surgery and flying back Tuesday. I'll be happy to respond to this after I return and tell you about my experience. (My niece is going with me and getting sleeved as well, so I'll give you a 2-fer!)

What part of Texas are you in? We're in Fort Worth.

I'm in San Antonio, thinking of flying to Puerto Vallarta for Dr. Joya.  I would love any feedback you can offer after your experience. I  hope everything goes well for you :)

My niece and I flew back tonight without any problems. We were sleeved on Saturday, and the 1st 12 hours were sort of rough. (Rougher for her than me because she had a lot of nausea. I just had a general feeling of discomfort.) The 2nd 12 hours were much better. After 24 hours, we could barely tell that we'd had anything done. Monday, after our leak test, we walked up and down a long street shopping at various shops. Monday night we had our first broth. Didn't have any problems with it. We spent all day at the airport today and there was no soup of any kind to be found, so I've only drank liquids. Tomorrow I will start pursuing protein and getting nutrition from things other than drinks. I'll probably be on full liquids (as opposed to just clear liquids) as long as I tolerate them well. If not, definitely clear.

Good luck, and let me know if you have any questions!
