VSG with Dr. Perez in Cancun at Clinica Victoria through R4aC?
I am going to have this surgery in January. I am self pay because my BCBS will not cover. I want to have it in Cancun because my family doesn't believe that Tijuana/border towns are safe. That said, the only doctor I could find in Cancun is Dr. Hector Perez. I have seen good posts about him and also some bad posts about the Clinica Victoria.....things like, no english speaking nurses, no pain medications, etc etc.
Anyone who has had any experience in Cancun, please post. I am determined but getting more scared, the more I read on the forums.
Thank you.
Sweetie - if you are scared and unsure about the surgeon you chose - don't go there. Simple as that. My husband had VSG with Dr. Joya in May - our whole experience was EXCEPTIONAL! Nurses were great and although they did not speak fluent English - we had no problems communicating. The hotel was awesome with staff that spoke enough English that there were no issues at all. Wherever you choose to go - be confident and sure in your decision. Because it's a big step and hearing you say you are scared with your choice of surgeon - it's a red flag to me - and it should be to you as well. Take care!
Thank you so much Mary. I am looking at Dr. Joya's website now. I really appreciate it. I just want to be safe and to feel safe. Puerta Vallarta is a touristy place just like Cancun, I think , so my husband might be okay with that location vs. tiajiana. Also looks like the hotel is very nice and on the beach.....I want to convelesce on the beach, but would like a larger hospital. I sent Dr. Joya an email. Thank you again for sharing with me. :-)
It's not the town so much as the facility itself. I haven't read anything bad about Dr. Perez in Cancun, but I have read some mildly disturbing accounts from people about the Clinica Victoria in Can****hat are making me nervous. The best surgeon in the world can't help you in the middle of the night with a nurse that doesn't speak english and thinks your pain from surgery is "all in your head", or doesn't recognize an IV that has been inserted incorrectly.
The facility in Puerto Vallarta looks very impressive and is more expensive but I am not having my surgery until January so it gives me time to do more research, and ask more questions before I decide on Joya or Perez.
I would sure love to hear from more people who have been to both places and could share their experiences.
