trying to pull money out of my 401k

I am trying to get a hardship withdrawl from my 401k. My benefits said I could get one if I need to pay for medical expenses. for supportting docs they said they would need a letter from insurance stating coverage denial or a bill estimate from a doctor for future surgery. Has anyone else had to do this? I was sent a itemized estimate on Dr lopez's letterhead staing the surgery was medically neccessay. I am hoping they dont say that this could be preformed in the states and use that as a reason nt to give me the hardship withdrawl. Any ideas?

I did a hardship on my 401K and all I had to have was the price  was going to have to pay and the Dr. that was going to do my surgery. I had no problems getting my hardship.

Good luck with everything!!!

I submitted the paperwork with the price breakdown and the Dr. Then they kicked it back to me saying that it needed to say that payment is due 2 weeks prior to surgery. So I got that and sent it in now it is just pending. Fingers crossed.
