I used Dr. Joya (he has a website) and my RNY was $9,000 excluding plane tickets.  Price included one night at resort prior to surgery, 2 nights in hospital, and 2 nights at the resort after surgery as well as all blood work, ekg, and meds while in the hospital.  There are a number of other surgeons in Mx that people rave about....Personally, I did alot of research on OH and on this board as well as independent research until I settled on Dr. Joya.  My only regret is that I didn't do it sooner.  If you have any questions, let me know.

A lot of surgeons have financing available through their office or know of lenders that previous patients have used.  You can always ask your local bank for a medical loan or apply for Carecredit which is like a credit card for medical expenses.  I would suggest researching surgeons first and contact their coordinator to walk you through the process of financing.

Just a tip...CareCredit is not accepted in Mexico.

I used ALighterMe and they offer financing.  Total surgery was $7500 for DS, or $6500 for rny.  That included everything except airfare.  I was very pleased with them.

Does anyone know what lending companies should be avoided?  I was filling out an application and before sending I noticed under the main name it said "No Patient Left Behind"  I freaked and didn't send it because I thought I had seen something about avoiding that company on one of the websites?

Sorry to hijack this post... maybe the information will help Lex too!  I am also looking at just refinancing my home since interest rates are so low but worried the process would take too long and I am planning surgery the first week in April.

We were fortunate enough to be able to pay with savings, but I know that Dr Aceves does some sort of payment plan for some people. I think I read 1/2 up front and the rest in monthly payments.
