Whato do about complications?

If you had surgery in Mexico, what do you do postoperative about complications. Specifically, if you have a stricture or something else like that, do you have to pay it all out of pocket or will insurance cover even if they wouldn't cover the RNY?

Depends on your insurance.

I'm having my surgery in Mexico in February and after discussing it with my PCP at Kaiser he let me know that he would care for me post-op.  He said at that point it would be a pre-existing condition. I think if you speak you your PCP you will find that they will assist you.  Good luck!!

Dr. Aceves' office in Mexicali said it would be all covered (as opposed to going to the USA where you are on your own as most insurance companies don't cover you if you are traveling for medical reasons). Make sure you pick a place that has a full service hospital just in case (i.e. Almater hospital in Mexicali)
