Did you find much of a price difference between the 2 doctors?

I'm considering a revision... from lap band to sleeve.

Hopefully I hear from them on monday with more information.   Shutterfly -- glad to hear you were able to book the surgery so quickly!

Dario -- great website!  Love the pics, stats, story - Everything.  All the best.

I agree!!! Dario- I love the website you put together, it answered all my questions!

Shannon- I am still deciding when to do my surgery because I'm in school full-time and the end of this semester I took a lot of extra hours at my work and can't get rid of them.. so I'm thinking the end of next semester in May.

As far as prices go- Aceves is about 7-8 k and alvarez 8900.

I'm not too concerned about the prices of both surgeons because they seem to be very reputable. My decision to go with Aceves is strictly based on flights. Since I live in Vancouver, it's easier for me to fly to SD than SA.. and after surgery I wouldn't want to spend any more time in the air/delayed more than the usual.

How's your lap band? I've read of so many people switching to the sleeve and they're loving it!!

Good luck on your journey!

I'm in Canada too (Ontario) used to live in Vancouver :). Lap band was never really successful for me. I have had it for 4 years now. Because of where I live I found it very hard to get fills. Therefore never really had well controlled restriction. I recently had a baby, and the band got irritated. So they pulled all the fluid out... And here I am. Researching sleeve info. I'm really concerned about cost as mat leave does not pay well. Keep me posted what you decide. Good luck!

I'm on the waiting list in Vancouver, but due to funding it's about a 2 year (maybe more) waiting list just for a consultation then about a 7-9 months for the tests and pre op stuff.. I really can't wait that long. I'm done being fat. LOL.

Will do! Let me know what you decided.

Hello Shannon,

I',\m glad you liked the website. When I was considering having my surgery the price difference between Dr Aceves and Dr Alvarez was $500 -- not much at all. However, for me the deciding factor was that Dr Aceves has much more experience than Dr Alvarez -- and I've always been told that it's better to get a doctor with ample experience, especially surgeons.

My experience with Dr Aceves and Dr Campos was great -- hope yours is also wonderful. Best wishes,

Dario

(PS -- I've reached my goal of dropping 103 lbs and I'm feeling great. It's awesome being "skinny" again!)
