One last step.... talking to my doctor.

Well folks... I've come to the end of my research. I've decided to go with Dr. Aceves for the sleeve. My last step is talking to my primary to see if she is willing to do post-op tests. I'm more nervous about this than draining my bank account and going under the knife. I feel confidant that Aceves is a fantastic surgeon and I'm armed with his credentials, information and pictures of the hospital, a low complication rate, and an outline of my soon to be adventure. I've already had the bariatric surgery talk and she gave me the referral to local surgeons... It's just the Mexico talk we need to have.
Anyone else have this talk?? How'd it go??

I was worried too, and that worked against me. Now I am trying to go a different route with my internal medicine Dr. on Nov 15th. I wish my GP Dr. was supportive but I guess not everyone is with the program. I laugh that they don't want you obese but expect you to wait 10-15 years in Nova Scotia for the surgery wait list ....crazy! Good luck and let me know how it works out!
Well listen to your internist cause a lady that I travelled with had to go to another hospital down there for tests before they would give her.the go ahead for the sleeve surgery which was more money out of her pocket. So anything that might prevent you having the surgery should be taken care of first. I headed there after hearing the wait list here was ten years. I think if we do the math it is.closer to twenty years.

Primary apt went well! She was not shocked when I mentioned Mexico. She quizzed me a little on the procedure and aftercare.. determined I had done my homework, and asked me to e-mail her when I set a date! I got two thumbs up! Kinda excited..

I'm right there with ya'. I have yet to tell my GP and I'm worried they will refuse to treat us. My mother and I are both going. Hopefully it will all work out!
