Canadian/Mexico/Revenue Canada questions
For any of you Canadians *****cently had surgery in Mexico, would you please enlighten me about if/ how you were able to use it on your income tax return. I have been doing some research on Rev Can website however I would really like to know from the tried and true. What were you able to use as an allowable medical expense? Were you able to include any meals, flight etc? Were there any extra documents you needed from your doctor to help with your deduction? Any info would be greatly appreciated!
Claimed my surgery and flight, about 2500 of mine is deducted for medical meaning there its a percentage that they don't count. I went alone so no meals were claimed. I think I brought some gatorade and soup or broth that is which might have been ten bucks. You won't be eating much. If you bring a care giver you will need a note stating that you need this caregiver from your doctor.
