still waiting  to see if my insurance will approve but if they don't I will go to Mexico to be revised from band to sleeve. The Dr. I have decided on is in Tijuana. For all of you from canada and US who have gone to Mexico for surgery in the last 2-3 years - was there anything that made you feel "not safe"? I know 1000's of people still go to mexico for medical treatment and vacations. Just want to hear assurance I guess.

I was Sleeved in Tijuana MX in May and I felt completely safe! There were security guards at both the hospital and hotel where I stayed. But I never saw anything of concern at all. Which surgeon are you thinking of going with?

I was there 18 months ago aand was never left unescorted. We always had a driver with us everrywhere we went and we felt perfectly safe everywhere we went and we went shopping and to the beach and the pharmacy. We had a great trip.

I chose to go to the "touristy" Puerto Vallarta where I had gone frequently and always felt safe there. I would not be comfortable going to a place where I needed guards or to be escorted...sorry.

I am leaning toward Dr. Ortiz. Who did yours?

Dr Kelly was my surgeon and I had an absolutely great experience, no problems or complications, barely any pain.   I was so surprised at how quick I recovered.   I loved Dr Kelly and Trish, they took very good care of me.   I have my day by day experience on my profile under "my story".   Msg me if you have any questions or concerns.  Good luck!!

Thanks for posting your experience with Dr. Kelly.  I am scheduling surgery with him on October 17th.  I am a former band patient and had my band removed in Feburary.  I am not going to Dr. Kelly for the sleeve.  Can you share more of your after surgery experiences?  Are you losing weight rapidly or at a steady pace?  Are there foods you can not tolerate?  Do you or did you have upset stomach, acid reflux, etc.

Anything you can share with me about Dr. Kelly and your experience would be much appreicated!!

 Hi,

I had Dr. Quinones. He is working with Dr. Ponce de Leon at INT in Tijuana. He explained everything to me, he came even if he had no surgery the day after he did mine. I felt very well there. All nurses took good care. I would do it again. I lost 15 lbs in 2 weeks. Feels really good.

I would not go to Tijuana for any reason right now. That is a scary scary place.

OSAC 2011 Crime and Safety Report: Tijuana
Overall Crime and Safety Situation
Tijuana continued to see a high level of violent crimes committed as reported in the past year.
In 2010, it became disturbingly common for mutilated bodies to be strung from bridges and
overpasses. For the calendar year 2010, approximately 820 homicides were recorded in
Tijuana, compared to 2009 figures of 750 homicides. The past year now stands as the
second most deadly year in Tijuana's history, only exceeded by the 2008 record of 845
homicides. According to Mexico's official government database of drug-related killings at both
the state and municipal levels, Mexico had a record 15,273 homicides linked to organized
crime in 2010. Of 2010's drug-related homicides in Mexico, 2,019 of them occurred in Baja
California
