So sorry to hear about your bad experience!  It's experiences like that which make it bad for other facilities that are really nice in Tijuana.  I had my surgery with Dr. Ponce de Leon, at INT Hospital and stayed at the lovely Grace Guesthouse, which overlooked the Pacific Ocean.  At the hospital and guesthouse I had my own private room and I paid less than $7,000 for my sleeve!

I would get an Upper GI. I had one earlier this year and now I am contemplating going to another surgeon. I did not get what I paid for! I am just lucky to be alive. I personally know of others that have had problems as well.

I gained ten pounds during the surgery. I'm sure it was the fluids, but that meant I had to lose ten pounds before "losing" any weight at all. It took a while to drop the fluid, but I lost weight, and you will too.

So glad you posted your experience.  Makes me thrilled I chose Dr. Aceves.  I will pay more, but all that is posted about him and the hospital is wonderful.  I'm glad you are doing better now.  I'm sure the weight will start coming off soon.  Glad you are OK and didn't get an infection.   As a nurse practitioner, I would of likely walked right out of that "hospital", but understand about losing the money....sheesh!  What an ordeal.  Glad it is over for you.

Hello everyone, My name is Khristina and I have had surgery twice at New Jerusalem and sent family members there as well. I had a tummy tuck in November of 2010 and lost 120 lbs. While I was extrememly pleased with the results of the tummy tuck, what I did not take into consideration was that my incisions all got infected. Seeing that they are all somewhat small incisions I never gave it any more attention. I went to my doctor and got some stronger atibiotics and they cleared up within a cpouple of weeks. Just like Melissa stated, there was little or no advise from the patient liason once I was back stateside. Anyways to make a long story short, I went back to new jerusalem to have a tummy tuck. This was suppose to be the big reward for loosing all the weight. I was so excited about the process and could not wait to have the final transformnation take place. Half way through my scheduling my patient liason switched from loiuse johnson to melissa Bracker ??? or something like that. Melissa was poor at best and I felt that she had too many patients to be truly capable of answering many of my questions. Seeing that I was already familiar with the process, I felt confident in speaking with the doctors personally once I got to Tijuana.
Melissa described the facilities absolutely perfectly, they are small and located in a Costco strip mall......... Initially I freaked out on my first trip and would never have went through the sugery if it wasn't for my partner walking me through the process. In hind site maybe my reaction should have been a warning sign.
On June 7 2012 I went in for a tummy tuck and liposuction. I did not have surgery until 8:00 pm as they had problably 8 or 9 gastric sleeve patients before me. I was not really that nervous, but was by myself for this trip. I awake from surgery in a huge amount of pain, and have a self made video that I plan to post once this entire ordeal is over with. Anyway, by the next day and wuith a good amount of pain medication I was feeling well. I was extremely excited about my new look and had all kinds of plans to begin a new chapter in my li9fe. The third day, my drainage tube got infected and nobody noticed for almost 12 hours. Seeing that I didn't really know what to be looking for, I htought I was already healed... LOL not quite! Anyways, finally the Severo Reyes one of the paramedics that works at the recovery house realized what was happening and he worked diligentlyto unclog the tubing. He was successful... :) What I didn't know then was the this would happen again and the next time, I would not be so lucky.

I would leave Mexico 5 days later with no instructions, less than a week of medicine and no final check up by the doctor performing my surgery. My belly was already beginning to turn black in some areas but I thought this was just bruising. How wrong I was. A week later, my drainage tube becomes clogged and I proceed to call every plastic surgeon in the Phoenix area. All of whom refuse to see me. I go the the urgent care *****fuses to help me . I go the Clinica Medica *****fuse to help me..... I go Maryvalle Hospital and they refuse to help me.. I mean a drainage tube how simple right? Whats the big deal? Well, I will tell what the big deal is... Once my tube got clogged I began to retain all that fluid and it got infect. Ince mt infection got to the point where the Hospital could no longer refuse me, they took me into emergency surgery. They have removed the entire lower half of my abdomin, I was in the hopital for three weeks, I am currently on home health care and have a nurse come in 3 to 4 times a weak. I am on a wound vac. I will be disfigured unless my insurance will come through fo reconstructive surgery. I am in great pain and when I called my patient liason to let her know what was happening to me. She was rude and defensive. I am not saying that you should not use New Jerusalem, whatI am saying is that if  you choose to have plastic surgery or bariatric surgery out of the states, you be have a doctor that is willing to care for you once you get home. Remember post operative care is just as important if not more important than the initail surgery. I will be blogging about my experience and showing all the pictures from beginning to end... If I can stiop one person from making the same mistak I mad, I will be very happy.

SIncerely, Khristina Tolbert

I had Surgery also at jerusalem Hospital in November 2013. I was also very mislead about the "hospital" , when I pulled up into a strip mall and saw this TINY clinic I was extremley nervous. I was thinking what do to seeing how I already traveled all the way out there. I WILL say i have had NO complications with my surgery and they took very good care of me but allot could have been better to make the patients more comfortable. There was no one that spoke english good to communicate with however i was blessed enough to meet a girl my age that spoke spanish to translate for me as she was having the surgery too. I did not think the place was clean but the nursing staff was extremley nice to me and constantly was checking on us to make sure everything was okay. If I had it to do all over again I without a doubt WOULD. If anyone is considering going for this surgery and would like to here more of my experience or have any questions feel free to email me.    [email protected]

I too went to Jerusalem Hospital and I loved it. I have recommend Dr. Almanza to all of my friends. I had my surgery on Oct 21, 2011 and have had no problems at all. I found the staff to be very friendly and spoke good english. Geeze my nurse at night rubbed by back for 15 minutes , where can you find a nurse in the US to do that. I stayed at the Hotel Ticuan and not the recovery house which was like the Bellagio of TJ and it only cost 55 dollars a night. The staff at the hotel was very helpful, they kept popsicles in the freezer for me and I had a great bell boy who always came to check on me and bring me ice. The manager of the Hotel was awesome. I have also went back to Jerusalem Hospital to show the Dr. my progress and would defiantly go back to him if I needed too! Luckily for me my skin did not sag to much so I don`t need more surgery, but if I did I would go back to Dr. Almanza. Think about it people there are good and bad doctors in the US and in Mexico.
