No Credit Card Pymt Accepted- Normal??
Dr Rosales in Monterrey does not accept credit cards as payment. I was planning to put it on there & pay off over time. Now what do I do. Also he is asking for $1000 deposit at time of booking to cover expenses incurred before the surgery. Is this normal practice? I have no objection to doing this, just wondered if they all do this. Thanks for your help

I am seeing Dr.Kelly in TJ and they required a deposit of $500.00 yet they do take credit cards as well as bank transfers. I know several people who went through my doctor though so if I were you I would try and contact some of your doctor's previous patients and as them. I would not send him anything until i was sure. I would be a little concerned because in this day and age who don't take a credit card payment? Then again he may have a perfectly good reason behind . Good Luck
In order to accept credit cards a company must be a registered and licensed U.S. business entity. They must have a U.S. business account and have a written refund policy and in most states, also have a business license. If not, then they cannot accept credit card. So if a business does not accept credit cards they are probably not a U.S. company. You may however see some that can accept credit cards through PayPal. Anyone can set up a PayPal account and accept credit cards that way. But you may or may not be able to easily dispute a charge.
If you pay with a credit card you are most safe paying a U.S. company that accepts credit cards directly rather than through PayPal. Ask for a copy of their refund policy either in writing or shown on their website. That is required in order for a U.S. entity to accept credit cards. It’s lots of hoops to jump through for the company, but protection for the client. I hope this helps!

All of that this posters says is legally and technically true however it does NOT mean that because a surgeon in MX does not take credit cards that they are any less legitimate or that you are unsafe in using them.
It is reasonable that Mexican surgeons who practice in Mexico would not be a United States company, this does not mean they are doing anything underhanded or that you should be leery of them. Please do not be lead to believe that.
There are many reasons Mexican surgeons might not accept credit cards, it is not unusual that they do not. Some might, I would venture to say most do not however I have not done a survey so I cant say for sure.

Whatever you do is it truthful, necessary and kind?
They have no costs pre op. Just their standard overhead. I would not pay $1K for a deposit, doctors that charge very high deposits do it so you won't change your mind if you find someone better or cheaper between now and your surgery date.
Tell them you'll pay $500 two weeks pre op.
