Hi,
I don't know either of these surgeons.  I have seen their names.  Did you get referrals, read the testimonials about them?  Do a search on their qualifications and affiliations?
Hopital Angeles is a modern clean hospital.  Smaller than I thought, however a very good facility.  INT is literally a block away.  I have heard mostly good about that hospital, again do a search for threads and you will get a ton of info.
Lastly, and please forgive me for sticking my nose into your business, however there are alot of people on this site that have had their band revised to a sleeve.  As you are new, perhaps researching other surgeries that may also meet your goals.
Originally I wanted a band and after I started researching, I decided to go to the sleeve.  Many reasons why I opted for a sleeve.
I wish you the very best as you research your surgery.
Take care

Hello.. :)
THANKS!!! I have of as today been thinking about the sleeve. I also have heard about the pilication. I do think I will choose one of these over the band. I am trying to do as much research as possible before I schedule my surgery. If you don't mind me asking what and were you had your surgery and the price if you don't mind... If you don't wish to share that's fine.:)
I have to go to Mexico because I cant afford it here in the states. ALSO I think the doctors in Mexico are more trained.... thank you for replying to my post!!! I need all the help I can get!!!! thanks again!!!!

I am signed up with Dr. Corvala at hospital angeles for june 23.   I'm also considering Dr. Nicolson and Dr Kim in Dallas.  I'm not getting support from my spouse about having the surgery in Mexico.  I'm in the process of trying to determine if Dr. Corvala's VSG technique is similar to Dr. Kim's inverted gastriac sleeve technique where there are three lines of staples, a suture over the staples, then inverting the suture/staple line into the stomach and then suturing again.  Apparenly that significantly reduces the chances of leaks and expansion down the road.   Hospital Angeles case coordinator is saying that only three days in the hospital is generally needed. they advertise 5 days hospital stay on their website and that is what I am insisting on as I would be there alone with no other help and I'm not sure much help I will get from local doctors in my area if they find out I had my surgery in mexico.  I would appreciate any posts from anyone that has recently had vsg surgery with dr. corvala on how your experience went.  He is the only Doctor in Mexico that I would consider for gastriac sleeve VSG surgery.  Otherwise I"m leaning towards Dr. Nicholson or Dr. kim in dallas as they have travel programs, are well respected, and the prices for the procedure in Dallas and texas in general are considerable cost than where i am from.

The plication is really only done by bottom feeder surgeons, it's not even a safe let along (long term) effective procedure.

Here is an example:

http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/vsg/4308190/Unexpected-Complication-from-Vertical-Sleeve-Plication/

And another:

Choose your surgeon carefully, remember that 50% of doctors graduated in the lower half of their class. ;o)

The band got me to goal, the sleeve will keep me there.

Don't listen to wasabubblebutt she only post what ever bad stuff she can find . There are surgeons here in the US that preform the plication it is not just bottom feeders. Vertical Sleeve talk has a section just for that that procedure and a Doctor from Ohio is on all the time to answer questions. I did consider that at first but honestly I have not seen many people reach their goal weight but do your own research and find what will work best in your situation. I am going with the regular sleeve because I don't want to have to mess with it down the road it is one time and done .

Corvalla and the hospital Angeles is state of the art. I had two surgeries there. Really it's a nicer facility then most US hospitals that I have been in. Ponce I really know nothing about? I was scheduled with him at hospital visa for a mini bypass but changed my mind at the last minute to the sleeve (long story)
PM me is you'd like and I will tell you all about it.

I have no opinion on either surgeon. I don't know that much about plication but I have had awesome success with the sleeve. Had surgery in Jun 08, lost 135 lbs in 10 mos and have easily maintained that loss since. I think the sleeve is the best procedure out there and allows for the greatest chance for success with the least chance for problems particularly the problems that come along with the malabsorbtive procedures like RNY or DS.
As for Wasabubblebutt I agree with the previous poster. Her information tends to be very biased and often untrue. She has a few surgeons that she "approves" of and the rest she maligns, trashes and otherwise talks crap about. Some of what she says MAY be true but my experience with her is that she she LIES. She has outrighted lied about my surgeon and refused to retract her lies when confronted with the truth. At best she manipulates information. She will refuse to give sources for her information and when challanged on her so-called facts she becomes nasty and abusive.
Please do NOT rely on Wasa aka Midwesterngirl for your only source of information.
Whatever you do is it truthful, necessary and kind?
