Declaring Cashiers Cheque/Certified Cheque

When crossing the border do you declare your cashier's cheques?  Im bringing about 10k total into mexico.

They likely won't ask, but I would be honest if asked. The CC will be made payable to the doctor and they know that alot of folks go to for surgery.  I am traveling from Canada to the US and then over the border to MX.  I will declare traveling into the US and if asked I will when we get to the MX border. $10k is the magic number, not sure what happens if you have $10k, most of the forms when flying ask if you are carrying more than $10k.  

Im coming out of Toronto, if you have the cheque that hardly leaves any pocket money :S

It's not a problem to have more then 10,000 - you just have to declare it. No biggie.

 I declared my cheque at US customs. They asked what it was for and I told him for surgery. No problems at all!! At the Mexican border they never even asked for a passport. We just crossed and that was all. 

Yes, just declare them. I told the customs people the check I had, and they just said okay. I'm not sure why they ask, I guess if someone looks suspicious. lol.

so for the canadian travellers, did you tell them you were going to Mexico for surgery or that you were going to San Diego?  They have always asked me for the purpose of my trip...and I leave on Sunday morning!

I cross the US/Canada border regularly.
Anything over 10K MUST be reported!
Cash, cheque or other.
They might just say nothing but they alos might photocopy it, check to see if it is REAl...etc.
I have never had a problem and I usually carry a cc for $50K or more.
Mexico does not care.
