Thanks to everyone who took the time to weigh in on this topic. I think the part that makes it a deal breaker for me is the fact that he does not seem to write up a surgery report. When I went for aftercare in the states after having my band placed, the first thing the doctors would ask for was a copy of my surgery report, which I was easily able to produce.

Dr. Ortiz did my band, and I may just go to him for a revision, I am just finding a hard time connecting with people that have had the sleeve done by him. I felt extremely cared for when I had my band placed and I even went back on my own for my first fill. I always felt very safe while in their care, etc.

Not the derail this thread, but . . . does anyone have any input on Dr. Ortiz for a sleeve revision?

There are lots of options out there.  You must feel comfortable with your surgeon and the facilities!  If you investigate thoroughly you will find you can have a VSG in Tijuana in a FULL SERVICE hospital with an ICU, etc at a price of $5300!  ALL INCLUSIVE!  And you can find a Gastric Bypass in the same FULL SERVICE hospital with the same 17 years of experience surgeon for $7500!  There is also Lap Band surgery in a FULL SERVICE hospital for $4600! Let the state of the economy work FOR you!

Are you no longer repping Dr. Almanza? I am seriously interested in booking surgery for my daughter. Was seriously considering Dr. Aceeves but I notice that things have changed with regards to pricing and full service hospitals since I've last been on this board.

I had Dr.Almanza do my sleeve on Sept.2. He was  fantastic, professional and caring. I am soooo dissapointed in reading negative posts from people who have not even had sugery from him. The clinic is spotless and the staff are fantastic. I am sorry if anyone had a negative experience with him or gis staff but mine was excellent!

Thank you for posting this. I was considering this doctor but too found alot of not so good info on him and have decided that my life is worth the extra few thousands of dollars. Glad I looked in to it. Now off to do research on a few more doctors!

Just read this....This is my experience, Well some of it I should say..However Im alive.

It is true that I am no longer representing Dr. Almanza.  I have decided to go in a different direction.  I am offering more choices of surgeons and locations.  Clients can choose from full service hospitals or well equipped surgery centers and a choice of locations such as Tijuana, Mexicali and Monterrey.  You can call or pm me if you would like more information.
