RNY with Dr. Joya November 3rd...kinda new here

Hello everybody!

I thought I'd introduce myself on this forum, and hopefully find some new friends.  My name is Nicole, and I've been a member of OH for about 8 years now, but am FINALLY having the surgery down in Puerto Vallarta with Dr. Joya on November 3rd!  This is a long time coming and I'm sooo excited!  I'm leaving the 1st of November and my boyfriend is accompanying me.

I'd love to hear any feedback/tips/advice from any former patients of Dr. Joya, as well as any RNYers that had it done in Mexico.

Hi I had RNY with Dr Joya last November and my sister and I went again in March for her Rny.  you are in great hands.   I started out a light weight at 235 and I am now at 130.  My sister is 6 months out and has lost over 90lbs already.  Good luck and enjoy!

Did either of you get the complication fund?  I'm not sure if I'm even eligible, but my dad wants me to get it.

I did not get the complication fund - I was a pretty low risk surgery between my weight and lack of health issues.

I had my sleeve done with Dr. Joya the beginning of July and cannot say enough good about him and the treatment I received in the hospital and at the hotel.  Good luck!

Yeah, I don't really have any extreme health issues either, so I'm pretty sure it would be okay.  Besides, I've not heard back from them about it anyways, so he might not be doing it anymore.

 Hi I had surgery with Dr Joya in July and all went well. I did get the complication fund just for peace of mind and I think it is a waste of money because you would have to go back to mexico. I have been doing excellent and he and his staff were awesome. If you have any questions you can PM me.
