Surgery in TJ next week!

Over the past few years I have watched many people on this board go through the the steps of their weight loss journey.  I have seen some research, have the surgery, lose the weight, and then become a veteran poster answering questions of others. Well, it is finally my turn. My surgery is scheduled for Sept 15th with Dr. Almanza in Tijuana. This journey has been a long time coming.  I have been researching weigh-loss surgery for the past five years. I have went to consults for lap-band and gastric by pass and was so close to getting the procedures done at one time.  For one reason or another I changed my mind or things would fall through.  Thank goodness! When I found out about VSG, I knew it was the procedure I had wanted the other two to be.  I am now 29 and it seems like so much time has been wasted being fat and unhealthy but I am ready for my new life.  This post is to thank everyone that posts their experience no matter what it may be.  Believe me, over the past few years I have researched and read it all but it is the experience of those that go through it that is most helpful. In the end, it is still up to every individual to make an informed decision based on facts and their research.  Any tips from other Mexico patients would be great! There are so many little details that can't be researched, only someone who has been through it would know. Thanks!

I also had surgery with Dr. Almanza ( June 30 ). My experience was great. My only advice is to take plenty of gas x strips. They will be your friend.  And walk, walk, walk after the surgery.  I went back to work 9 days after surgery, and I think walking around as much as I could right after helped me be able to return so quickly.

Do not hesitate to ask for what you need. The staff will take very good care of you.

My sister has VSG scheduled with Dr. Almanza on Sept. 23. These are the same things I told her. Also,  please feel free to ask anything. There are lots of people on this board that have been recently and are most helpful.

Congratulations on your upcoming surgery and best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Melissa

PS  I have lost 35 pounds since surgery.

Good luck Sefanie.  Let me know if you have any questions beforehand, and post as soon as you can so we know you're safe and well.  Best of luck, and wishing you a quick and uneventful recovery!

Have a great surgery.
Thought I would post quickly to say that if you chat with Kim or Dani they will give you an honest update on your surgeon and surgery. I am 5 months post op and all I can say is "Get It".
I have concerns with JC Clinic but they are personal. Most patients have a GREAT surgery and don't believe everything you read. There are always three sides to every comment.
Good luck!!!
