anyone have LAPBAND done in Mexico?
Nope. I was given my chest x-rays, x-rays of my band placement, my operations notes in English, and an Allergan id card with a pic of my band x-ray on it. On the card itself and on my operations notes, my serial number was placed. I called Allergan to register my band and the serial number given matched one that Dr. C. purchased and has now been officially registered to me :)
Did you get your original box?
I do think that bands are probably outdated and first time patients really should move directly to sleeves, RNY or DS because of the issues with bands, but bands still hold hope for those of us that simply have not done well with sleeves or RNY.
I had a band for more than 6 years and did very well with it - I revised to a sleeve and I hated it. I never felt full and had recurring health issues not related to my sleeve that forced me to revise to a RNY. I have never felt satiation with a RNY either. I gained about 20 pounds over my band weight, but neither sleeve or RNY turned off my hunger to acceptable levels. I realize that revision surgery patients sometimes don't experience the same level of satiation as first time patients.
I revised 10 days ago and had a new band put over my RNY more than 10 years after my first band. I have no saline in my band, but I am again feeling full and down 8 pounds. About 3 - 4 bites and I simply am not hungry. My hunger is finally shut off again, hopefully permanently!
Some of us are high risk patients, the surgical risks of a band are far less than revisional risks if you are a MRSA survivor with other high risk factors.
