Do NOT go to Dr Huacuz

I am not into doctor bashing but he nearly killed my hubby in 2006.  I think you are ok with a band or lippo but he is not equipped to deal with slicing and dicing of rny or ds. My hubby had leaks and was operated multiple times.  He came back to the states, was in icu and operated on by a doc here who found a free floating intestine. The doctor here stated he could not tell which type of surgery he had, as it was unlike any bariatric surgery he had ever seen. If he would have stayed in Mexico he would have died.  Because of the multiple surgeries he had an open wound that took months to heal. Because of the open wound, muscle around his stomach did not heal properly and the he ended up with a huge hernia almost 12 inches that was recently fixed. I feel like after all this time I got my sweetie back.  He has been in a low level of pain all this time, but is not a complainer.  I can tell, he has his pep back.

Huacuz is a nice man but in way over his head. His staff were awesome but that does not speak to skill.

That's the most horrible thing I've heard!  I'm so sorry for both of you ladies!

Good grief! I am so sorry to hear about what happened to you and your husband. Thank you for sharing. After 4 years of terror, I am so glad you and your sweetie are finding your way again. Both of you are very strong people.

PS. Before going to some doctors in Mexico, it's a very good idea to have had 'before' x-rays of your stomach -- just in case you need show what was (not) done, 'after'.

PSS. 'After' having surgery from some in Mexico, it's a very good idea to have an upper GI series done, to make sure your stomach does not generally look like it did, 'before'.

Your advice is excellent advice not just for Mexico but for all us regardless of where we live or have services performed.   It is an excellent idea to keep copies of all surgical reports, xrays etc. for your personal files should you ever need a reference point.  My US doctor has argued at times about giving me disks with my MRI on them - but I want to keep copies in case I ever need them.   I had some medical - surgical records 'misplaced' in a US hospital many years ago which could have assisted with diagnostics of current issues.   They are your records and you have a right to have copies!

I specify Mexico because it is somewhat more difficult to achieve recourse than when one is in her or his home country. Thankfully, it only takes just a bit more time.

I agree that people should have a copy of everything there is about them in any file. In Canada, it's part of our FOIP (freedom of information and privacy) law.

    I am so very sorry for what happened to you. It's not fair that we have to go through life obese and then have something like this happen. Keep spreading your story and keep the faith that you will get the surgery you need to correct this. Out of curiousity, has the surgeon had any response to these problems you're having?
