I have to really agree with Andrea here.

This is a child who is possibly going to be losing her mother and is going through a traumatic experience.  Is it really the time to try to finger point and blame the patient?

Show me your medical degree, I for one certainly don't have one, yes, we all know that smoking prior to surgery increases the risks, but really is this the right time to blame the patient?  Much less start in with the patients child who is just venting and scared?

Seriously, where is the compassion? :(

The only thing I got to say about that is to answer the question that you asked. I am going to be the adult in the situation and drop it after this.. so take notes. HOW THE HELL AM I SUPPOSED TO KNOW WHAT THE DR. DID SPECIFICALLY IF I WASNT IN THE ROOM.  I DO know however, that there were 5 abscess and a hole in her stomach when she was in surgery and he said screw it "stack em and rack em" GIT ER DONE, whatever his motto seems to be. :)
Have a blessed day girl :D:D:D:D:D:D:D

omg, i am so loaded with nyquil right now this might not make sense but i gotta tell you, smoking does not cause a stomach perforation, surgeons do that.

it takes an almanza patient to blame the patient for a HOLE (aka STOMACH PERFORATION) in her stomach that is surgically created. no sane person would suggest such an impossibility.

Right... attack a 16 year old kid while mom is in the hospital dying. only an almanza patient could stoop to such low levels.

GAWD!

doesnt matter who did what when. It only matters that your Mom gets well. Hugs to you and prayers for all of you.
PS To expect someone to not act like a child, you first have to acknowledge that they ARE a child. Fear and stress and worry mixed with love can make anyone a bit emotional. Regardless of anything, this is a child posting, and she needs support and kindness. Education and enlightenment can wait a bit. Compassion is easy, being right is not important right now.

AMEN Michelle!
If this was my mom, I would be losing it too. And I'm 52, not 16. What matters now is that everyone possible pull together and send up prayer for this woman and her brave young daughter. You and your mom have my prayers, young lady. Please keep us posted on your mom's progress. But please keep your anger with us, and out of your mom's room. She needs positive energy. We can see how much you love her. I would be proud to have a daughter like you. I'm sure she feels the same way. Surround her with your love and beautiful smile and you will be helping her to heal.

I really hope your mom recovers and gets better! I am very sorry she is going through this, it must be incredibly hard for you to see her so sick!!

Sorry you have experienced such negativity with her smoking....that is not the point...the point is that she gets better!!

(((HUGS)))

I don't know anything about that doctor but it sounds like your Mom must be very sick.  I am so sorry this is happening and I will be sending as many hopeful thoughts your way as  I can.   I am really hoping you have others in your life who can love and support you while this is happening.  Please post when you are able and let us know how she is.  And also how you are doing and what we can do to support you.  Jane

Now that the child has called out her calvary of posters that have never even posted on the Mexico forum before now. . .  thanks, but your opinion means nothing to me because you aren't here on a regular basis.
She may be a child but has placed herself in an adult situation with the help of her mother. Not my fault. If she can't handle the adult situations, perhaps she shouldn't place herself in them in the first place. SHE opened the door to criticism, I didn't not offer it without being asked, even if in a small way.
Had she asked for support without bashing, I would have offered that without looking further into the story. The first part of my note to her said that I am not trying to be hateful but I guess she forgot to post that part so as to rile everyone.
Yes, she bashes the decisions other people make and I am SURE they didn't ask her to. All they asked for was support. So I am tying to point out a fact and NOT bash (unlike her) and even ask her opinion on why she wants to incorrectly place blame. EVERYONE researching this doctor and this facility DESERVE to know all of the FACTS and not one sided stories.
I have a whole notebook FULL of notes about doctors and facilities in Mexico. YES, the good, bad and ugly. This story will go under the category of patient issues and will stay there until I find evidence otherwise to move it to another category.
Have a great peaceful sleep. I know I will.
