ENRAGED

I am beyond pissed right now. I am soo far beyond pissed. I am shaking and everything. One lady posts on one of my posts talking about my mom's smoking. That was okay. But this lady junebug1965 wrote this on a picture of my momma smoking with her IV in her hand. LIKE SHE FREAKING KNOWS MY MOTHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They should have never let her do that and it could possibly have a part to play in the problems she is having now. Put the blame where it belongs.

Are you telling me that smoking put a hole in my mother's stomach that made it so that whatever she eats bacteria goes out of her stomach instead of digesting and put 5 abscess in her stomach!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What the hell does smoking have to do with it? You do not know my mother AT ALL.. Out of half the world that smokes..... I'm pretty sure there has been quite a few people who smoke go get this surgery and leave without a DANG thing wrong with them and you're telling me that SMOKING has something to do with it??? ARE YOU PSYCHO? If you would've been there, you would know that a lady was very very ill and had to go into emergency surgery for FOUR hours... and if you also knew my mother, you would know that she has anxiety and she loves her family more then anything in the world and wanted to get home to us soo she was stressed. And they let her go out there with that thing and smoke a cig. SUE  HER!!!! Smoking has nothing to do with it sweety! She also got the pnemonia from them putting the black stuff in her throat to see if everything was working good and it got in her lungs!!!!!!!!! No, smoking is not good for you and it don't help you get better, but it dang sure don't put a hole and 5 abscess in a freakin stomach boo boo!!!! That is pure Dr. Almanza BABY!!!!! Don't post something about that if you don't know anything that's going on.... I've had negative comments posted before and I let them slide.... but this is where I draw the line. You should not have any right to talk about something that you don't even know about. Yeaaaa... blame this woman for her smoking that causes these things... hah reality check baby... there are people going through the same EXACT thing that my mom's going through and they don't even smoke! Did you think about that one? NO!!!!!!!!!!! You can say anything you want about my momma but you can't try to blame smoking for these problems. P.S. I was just going to write the lady who wrote that but she has her thing on private so I don't know how to write her.. FIGURES!!!!!
FROM,
ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been searching for a junebug1965 and can't find it. Would you send me a link to the profile?

Sounds like someone who went to the same doctor and is trying to justify the decision, send 'em to me. **I** will take care of these idiots just like the previous idiots.

No, smoking cannot cause a leak, abscess, sepsis, lung arrest, fever, coma, etc..., that is the surgeon.

I did not post that but would like to comment on it. Smoking even 2 weeks prior to surgery can lead to post surgical complications but more with anesthesia not the sleeve itself except for it can slow down the healing process due to the decreased oxygen supply in the bodies cells. It can lead to pneumonia and/or collapsed lungs after the surgery. So although it probably did not help her any as far as being at full recovery potential it would have had NOTHING to do with the other stuff so ignore posts that upset you like that. Its not worht getting upset over just be there for the people that matter.
War Eagle!! haha Had to lighten the mood a bit!! lol

Be nice to nurses....we keep doctors from killing you!

I totally agree with you, smoking is bad and can cause many complications, but as you point out, not a perforated stomach.

Yes I said it. NO I am not trying to be hateful. Nor do I regret it. But you MUST understand the consequense of smoking and surgery.
straight from this website: http://www.stop-smoking-updates.com/quitsmoking/why-quit/reasons/quit-for-the-sake-of-your-health.htm
it says in black and white:

1. Wound Infection-
One of the most common complications that can occur if you smoke is wound infection
. Smoking, in effect, steals oxygen from cells that are in the process of healing. Smoking is a risk factor for wound infection in almost any kind of surgery. Researchers have found that smokers continue smoking before surgery are at a much higher risk of developing wounds that do not heal properly.
SO, yes she is partly to blame. I understand that people have anxiety and stress but smoking at that particular time was not the most important thing she should have done to alleviate that stress and anxiety.
YES smoking has A LOT to do with it. I am in the medical field and I have seen it time and again. The fact that smokers try to play it off to other issues is also common.

My question to you would be: What did Dr Almanza do, specifically, to your mom that would cause an abscess?
I have been watching, with great interest, the Almanza/Betencort issue. I have no financial ties to him nor have I had surgery with him. I don't defend him nor do I bash him. BUT I do gather all of the information that I can. Not only on Almanza, but other doctors and facilities in Mexico. I consider the source from which it comes. I use what I have available at my disposal, blogs and pictures ect, to make my opinions.
Again, I did not intend for you to be angry, but to be adult enough to see that the entire blame could possibly not belong where you are firmly placing it.
In the future, if you try to educate someone, please have ALL of your facts before you begin class.
Have a great day sunshine. :)

I don't try to harm with my words, EVER and there was none intended.

Really?

She's sixteen with her mother on a vent, possibly dying and you want her to come up with a rational, adult arguement, to spar with you on the internet about how her mother may or may not have done this to herself, or how it might have or might not have been surgical malpractice?

What the hell are you smoking?

Andrea, I'm with you!  If it were my mother, I'd be reacting exactly the same way.

I can tell this is one daughter that dearly loves her mother.  Hope all goes well for her.

Now is NOT the time to try to start a smoking debate.
