I have done lots of research, and I weighed the pro's and con's. I have talked to TONS of people who have had VERY successful surgeries with Dr. Almanza, I have also heard of a few complications, to which I'm not entirely sure are even true. Saying that, I also thought about the fact that he has performed these surgeries thousands of times, so he has the experience I am looking for.

You know, I COULD sit there and bash you for your decision on getting the lap band, Yes you could, and I would tell you that back in 2006 when I had my first band put in I thought I knew all there was to know, but hindsight is 20/20. and tell you how if you would have paid a couple thousand more dollars you could have a successful surgery with less complications. This part does not pertain to me since my insurance paid for it 100 %. Not even a co-pay. Then I could go on to tell you about all of the risks that go along with the lap band afterward, and tell you stories about all of the people who get a revision from lap band to VSG....BUT, I wont because I realize, that is YOUR decision, not mine. And, I'm sure you have heard it all anyway. :) You could, but the VSG wasn't really being talked about back then. In fact I don't even recall hearing about it at all.

This is your choice and I'm not going to tell you which surgeon you should pick, I just asked you,
" How do you make the decision to choose a surgeon when there are so many negative post's in regards to him "

I was interested in how you weighed the pros and cons and came to the decision that you came to.

pumpkin...

When you and i were banded in 2006 there were NO long term studies out on the sleeve, they did not even exist until 2008.

Just a fact to mention....

I am going for VSG with Dr. Almanza on June 30. I will hopefully be safely back at home by the time you get there but I wish you the best. Personally, I am a bundle of nerves. I have never flown in my life and I am terrified. Not to mention, I have a 13 year old who insists on making comments about disasters. I also have my mother and my sister(who need the surgery more than me) making remarks too. Does anyone have 3 muzzles I can borrow for the next 3 weeks?

Oh I'm the same....I have flown before and I HATE it!! I'm more nervous about that than the surgery!!! lol I almost wish mine was sooner just to get it over with! You will do fine and keep me updated when you feel up to it! :)

If you are super anxious about flying you can ask your doctor for a small dosage of valium.

Best of luck with your surgery.
