Question.... when the housekeeper removed the drain and all the fluid leaked out, didn't Dr. Almanza seem concerned about this? (I have read the entire story).

Did he not see this as a problem? I am quite sure Dr. Almanza does what is needed, I am sure he follows up with all his surgical cases??

 Are you kidding me?
He ONLY saw her back in the clinic when she was readmitted on the day we were supposed to be going home, reviewed her Xray taken that morning, and seemed to only be concerned with the collapsed lung.
They seemed to be assured there was no leak.
Betancourt and his housekeeper were the only ones who saw her each day and gave her pain shots.  (for her gas pains!)
The aftercare there is so terrible when one is in trouble!  Can't emphasize that enough!
They don't seem to have a clue!

I'm so sorry, at least the worst of it is over!

Betancourt and a housekeeper giving injections... (shudder)

I am fine thanks, Linda is at home now but back to see her surgeon today as she has been getting leaky fluids still in her drain and that is a concern as she is on fluids and mushies lately and things are not quite healed apparently!
She is quite worried about that needless to say.
She still is weak and has not much energy, but hanging in there trying to get through as best as she can.
Still has to get the stent removed from her esophagus, still has to get a hernia repair and skin graft!
Lots to look forward to huh?
Poor woman has been thru so much!
She is losing weight tho...but at only 198 to begin with, that is small comfort.
I am sure she regrets mightily going to that facility!  I know I sure do, even though mine turned out to be complication free.
I so regret sticking up for them through all the infections and leaks and nicked bowels and nicked spleens and the sheer amount of severe complications that came after my surgery there.
That is not an acceptable amount  of complications no matter what their coodinators say.

Oh Stoongal...

You were just working off the info you had at the time. This is NOT your fault! Things change, people change. It's life.

They claim to do about 100 surgeries a month. Thus, according to their claims they should have less than 1 complication a month. Clearly, just from those posting on the boards it is FARRRRR higher than less than 1% for complications. All the leaks, the infections, the perforations, the lacerated livers and spleens... something is clearly wrong.

Perhaps they should not have promoted Ricardo the driver to asst. surgeon, ya think?
