to health
John and I had surgery together on 1/12/10. No regrets now and we are loving the NEW us. John has 65lbs off and I have 63lbs off. We walk at least 3.5 miles 4x a week and have just started jogging. We are training to do a 5k in oct. I still struggle with emotional eating (or trying to). John struggles with to big of bites and eating to fast. All things that are bad habits that got us both to over 300 lbs.
We are healthier and our kids are loving the newer more active us.
This was a great decision for us and probably saved our lives.
Hope everyone else is doing great.
much love to all,
John and Kari

Oh thats really great that you did this together. My husband is my best friend and when we do things together it is alot better. 3.5 miles 4times a week is great. I bet you have tons of energy and feel really good. Well congrats to both of you. Your posts are very inspiring to a newbie like me and I cant wait to be sleeved.
That's great!
I have a question....how long did it take you to get to 3.5 miles? How much were you doing at 2 weeks? I find that I can walk but still get tired...when I pick up my daughter from school, I park like 4-5 blocks away to get some walking...is this enough for 2 weeks post-op?
Congratulations on your journey!

Preop I couldn't walk 5 min without needing to rest. About 3 weeks post op I started walking 5 min a day. it was a LOT easier. Every week I increased the time by 5 min.
Now at 9 weeks out I am up to 60 a day, without little problem!
Take it easy at 2 weeks out ,you'll still get tired now pretty easy!
Good luck!

Congratulations on you & your husband's weight loss and to enjoying your new life together. I had surgery in Feb. and my husband plans to have his soon. I have done extremely well with surgery and we pray that he will have the same results.
I have enjoyed reading your posts and updates about you and John's progress. I'm sorry that John had to go through a rough beginning, but I am so happy to hear that you both still think it was worth it.
Have a wonderful weekend.
XOXOXO,
Christi

at 2 wks out it was still the middle of winter and John was just out of the hospital, we didn't really start walking until late Feb early Mar when the snow was gone, I would suggest doing what feels right and doesn't make you to tired for the rest of the day.
Our energy level is great now and our weight did come off faster after we started walking so take it slow and build yourself up. Remember that we have all abused our bodies and they do need rest from the shock of surgery. Your body will tell you when to push a little harder or walk alittle faster.
Keep up the good work
