Have surgery in 3 days, changed from having the lapband to the sleeve, It's
got my husband a little worried now. Haven't told my kids about the change,
I'll deal with them later. Have 2 aunts that about went through the roof, but
hey they'll get over it.

just wondering why the sleeve rather than the lapband????

I decided to change to the sleeve, after reading the boards and seeing how happy others seemed to be with there decision. I've got a cousin and a few friends that are happy with there lapbands, but I was reading that alot of the people have problems with eating fruit and veggies afterwards, and how many fills that they have to get, so I decided that I'd rather just do the extra money now and not have to go back and forth with the fills. There's also so many people out there revising from the band to the sleeve. I'd never be able to come up with the money again to have something like that done.

Hey Michelle
Hope your surgery goes well
I too changed from lapband to the sleeve as I learned more.
My main reason for changing was the "maintenance" issue as I travel 6 to 7 months a year.
Its your life and we are all glad that your are "making a change".
My visit is April8

I think you will be happy with your decision. I currently have the Lapband and will be revising to the sleeve in a couple of months. I can't wait!  Congrats and well wishes!

I to was going for the lap band due to money reasons... after talking to Shirley at the jerulselum hospital... ( who is absolutely amazing) told me exactly what i wanted to hear... the price difference was about a grand more that what i was going to pay for the band.  Shirley has had both operations.... first the band then now the sleeve to fix what the band couldnt.

The reason i didnt stick with the band was.....
slippage, corrosion, dumping, fills etc

I figured a grand more to change my life forever with no maintanance, no slippage, corrosion.... i could deal with that. My coordinator Melissa Bracker got me an awesome deal and i couldnt pass it up.  If you are considering surgery and need a rep that will talk to you like a human and not just try and place you in line with the rest of the "fatties" trying to get this surgery... She is the BOMB! She works directly with Dr. Almanza. and has a heart of gold... Even if you wake her up on a monday at 7 am because youre in Texas and forget that Las Vegas has a two hour time zone difference....
I have yet to get my surgery but at this point im glad its been smooth sailing and can only assume the rest will be just as smooth...
