Crossing Over to Transfer Addictions...VERY BAD TIME OF THE YEAR!
http://www.obesityhelp.com/group/crossingtotransferaddictions/
Hi All,
There is a new OH Online Support Group. The above link will get you there.
It's called Crossing Over to Transfer Addictions.
This group discusses the issue of transfer addictions (also known as cross addictions) after weight loss surgery. there are millions of people who have undergone gastric bypass who are now dealing with issues of addiction transfer.
For a number of people, giving up overeating leads to adoption of a new compulsion.
Addiction transfer occurs when someone is unable or unwilling to rely on one compulsion (for us, it was food) and so switches to a new compulsion (alcohol, drugs, sex, gambling, shopping, internet, porn, etc) due to not having dealt with the underlying issue behind the compulsion.
***Please feel free (and safe) to join and discuss any and/all issues you have regarding Transfer Addiction. ***
WE WILL SUPPORT EACH OTHER WITHOUT JUDGEMENT!

LadyStx chiming in on the subject of addictions with no regrets. Were Sex an option, I might OPT--but at my age, chemically denied; I will choose shopping. And due to budgetary restraints, will stick to GOOD Will and thrift store shopping. This makes me happy and I don't blow the budget.
When I was young I did cigarettes, alcohol , then food and so many hobbies (additively ) in between. Now I will opt for the GYM and Thrift stores. I have been working this for a while and it is working. Surprised that I have stayed with the Gym workouts about 3/4 times a week. It is addictive and am beginning to be a believer in Endorphins even though I've never been a Runner nor do I work out aerobically. However, I get a nice little high of "JOY" after my workouts. Its like a great big love hug to myself. I DID IT, is what I say each time I exit the 24 hr Health Club. Love it. Like to go early in the morning.
