I am going to Dr. Almanza in Feb. They had a batch of compromised sutures that were causing infections but that issue has been corrected. You should be able to proceed without any concern. good luck!

Hey there, i was wondering why you are thinking of getting a mini bypass? Do you  have a little bit of weight to lose? I hear you dont lose that much.If you dont want a full gastric bypass maybe you should consider a sleeve.

The MGB is the sleeve plus the addition of re-routing the intestine similar to the RNY.  So, you get a larger stomach pouch than the RNY but still the malabsorption benefits.  A lot of research has shown that the MGB has the same benefits of weight loss as the RNY, but there are fewer side effects.  I think anyone considering either the RNY or the VSG should seriously look into the MGB.

HoLLykim, i'm not trying to beat a dead horse, but i noticed that you specifically respond to everyones concern about infections, so my question to you is do you realize that sutures are placed internally on your stomach insides?

I am certainly aware that sutures are placed internally. I responded to the OP's concern after having read about infections. The infections in question at Dr. Almanza's facility were incision closures, not internal.

it is a fact they had a month of infections from what appeared to be some compromised sutures. That issue was treated  seriously,as was appropriate.

it appears to me that you are,in fact, trying to beat a dead horse.

I am having the VSG. The escorts will pick you up at the San Diego airport and drive you across the border. They stay with you the whole time you are outside the facility. Check out the profile of

stoongal  she has a good description of her stay. there are others but she is the only one i can remember right now.

Good luck!

I just got back yesterday from having surgery with Dr. Almanza. I had a revision from band to sleeve. Just from the amount of research I have done, I would get the sleeve. So far so good, I had a tough surgery because the band had done a number on my stomach, but each day I feel better.
Good luck!
