Hi Georgia,
Which Christus Muguerza? There are two of them in Monterrey . . . Christus Muguerza Sur and Christus Muguerza Alta Especialidad . I know this b/c on the morning of my surgery, the driver took me to the Alta Especialidad by mistake. When we drove up to the hospital, I thought, "OMG, this looks nothing like the pictures they sent to me." Anyway, within just a few minutes, we were on our way to the right hospital.
I had my surgery at the Christus Muguerza Sur back in April. The hospital is gorgeous and all the rooms have views of the mountains. If I had to complain about at least one thing, it would be the language barrier at the hospital. The nurses were very professional and kind, but spoke NO ENGLISH and there was not a English translator available. But, overall, I had a fantastic experience and would do it over without hesitation. I'd just bring a English to Spanish dictionary . . LOL!!!
I didn't use Dr. Rumbaut (although I hear he is a very good surgeon), I used Dr. Horacio Guajardo who was Dr Rumbaut's associate for five years. If you go to Dr, Horacio's website www.drhoracio.com , you'll find a lot of information and photo's for the Christus Sur.
Which med travel service did you use to book your surgery? Some of them are now offering complication insurance which is a good idea to think about. Are you staying at the Hampton Inn?
Feel free to e-mail me with any particular questions about the hospital etc....
Best of luck to you!
Dusty

Hey Dusty, I've been waiting and waiting for someone to respond!!! Yea!!
It's the Christus Muguerza Sur. Good thing to point out. I'll print out several pieces of paper with the hospital name and address on the paper so I can just hand it to the driver. I'm not quite clear about getting around Monterrey. I know Dr. Rumbaut has me picked up at the airport but I don't know if the hotel shuttle is not available, if I pay for the cab or Dr. Rumbaut pays for the cab. Guess I need to find that out.
I've never been to Mexico. The only spanish I know is Hola - with a deep south accent - so they'll be trying to figure out what I'm trying to say when I say Hola!!
