I had my surgery with Dr. Jaime Ponce de Leon -- one of the best bariatric surgeons in Mexico -- in Tijuana, Mexico; at INT Hospital.  Everyone was so kind, treated me like a princess, and the prices were right too.  For the band it's gone down below $7000 now; for the sleeves about $9,000 and I'm not sure as gastric bypass. I've lost 140 lbs. with the mid-band (now they have the improved C-band) and will never gain it back!

I had RNY with Dr Alejandro Aguirre in Ensenada and would go again in a heartbeat!  It was safe and sterile and I always had a nurse close by.  Our driver spoke perfect English and we stayed at a lovely condo owned by the doc.   Just make sure your pcp will do followup when you get back home.

Best of luck to you!

I had the band and I could not wait to get it out of me. It was a night mare. I revised to the sleeve and had Dr. Aceves do it. I liked the fact that I was in the hosptial for 3 days in case anything went wrong, even though Dr . Aceves has never had a leak. That hospital is so clean. they came in and cleaned my room at least 3 times a day and they were always cleaning every time I went walking around inside the hospital. Dr. Aceves and Dr. Campos are both so sweet and caring and Dr. Aceves is very experienced.

They pick you up at the airport in San Diego and drive you to the hospital and drive you to the resort
after you have your tests, pick up back up at the resort in the morning to have your surgery.

If your flight doen't work with the pick up time at the airport, they give you a special rate at the comfort inn and pick you up there the next morning. The entire experience was fantastic and I went alone and was very comfortable and felt like I was treated like a queen by everyone.

HI, I had my lap band surgery 4.5 years ago in Tijuana Mexico with Dr. Kuri. I was like everyone else and worried for my safety as well as clenliness of the hospital and integrity of the doctor. Afte all it was in another country, what rights did I have if things didn't go right.
To this day I go back and forth across the border, now more than ever, and not once have I ever run into an issue. I've had Dr. Kuri's driver pick me up, i've taken the trolley, and I've crossed by taxi.
With anything do your research and talk to as many people as you can.
I don't regret choosing Dr. Kuri I believe he is a man of his word and honors his work. The cost of the surgery in Mexico seems to be very competitive. But you have to ask how can docs keep cutting corners? Better yet why do USA docs charge so much? Like I said I'm 4.5 years out with no problems.
