Emmanuel Medical...
is having a special of $5,000.00 on lap band or vsg...Is anyone using them for this special or are you going too..??
I know Dr. Almanza Reyes is the Dr. or one of the Drs. and If I could come up with the money, I was thinking of using him anyway...He has an ad running for $6,000.00 right now...Saving another $1000.00, would really help out..!!!
Thank you...

Hi Cyndy
Thank You so much! I wish you were going with me! I want a band buddy....lol. I asked them if there were going to be others besides me and she said there looks to be 2 maybe 3.
I hope you can come up with money! How long do you think it will take you to come up with it? (did you make a goal date to have it by, something to make you look forward too and work hard to achieve?) Did you decide which procedure you wanted to get? I have been looking into this for years now. about 6 yrs ago I went through the whole process with my local Hospital and my now ex husband didn't want me to get it done. So I never got it. Well now that I don't have health care and the cost of it up here is 18 to 30 grand I can't pay out of pocket that much. this is way more affordable and I feel confident in who I've chosen.
Being patient is hard. I am trying to be patient and waiting for my date to come. I am sure a few days before I'll have the butterflies and ******vous wreck. I am excited and scared in the same sense. i am just nervous about going so far away from home and from my son. My husband is coming with me. but if he could of gotten out of it he would have. As for the family. I've only told my parents. My mom is like okay not thrilled and my step dad is like is this really necessary and kind of gave me the run around about it and my 2 girl friends that I decided to tell are like Mexico, really? So in that sense I really don't have a lot of support. So in some ways it kind of brings me down. As in like what if I fail at this. But I'm gonna be strong and I have people on here and lap band talk to help get past my fears and give me the support I need that my other family and friends isn't giving me right now.
Okay Now that I've wrote a book...lol. Talk to you again soon, I hope!

I arrived home today from Emmanuel Medical in Tijuana and I will recommend it without hesitation. Unfortunately, I went through Medical Tourism and got hit for a total of $6,500, it was well worth the money and I would go again.
This is a cut and paste from a message I sent to another member just a couple of minutes ago:
You were absolutely correct about Dr. Almanza, he is great. The anesthesiologist was great and so was the nursing care.
I arrived home today and feel pretty good. Just a bit sore where they removed the excess stomach and tired (but a 9 hour plane flight would wear anybody out).
The experience in Tijuana was very good. The care was excellent. Mexico does have some different standards than the US, but nothing I can complain about. My incisions look pretty good, no fever and am holding down everything I take in.
I had about 24 hours of pretty uncomfortable gas pain but just kept walking and walking like everyone suggested and it "passed". Since Thursday, I have had a couple of bouts of diarrhea but when all you intake is liquid, your output will be also.
I will go ahead and say that although the care I received in Tijuana was very good, Tijuana is not a tourist area. They did not let us go anywhere outside of the clinic walls or residence house without an escort. When we did some light shopping, there were two escorts. They would not allow anyone they did not personally know within about five feet of us, so we were safe.
Just this week they changed from moving us to a hotel after two nights in the clinic, to a private condo residence in a small gated community. The new house is directly across the street from Dr. Betancourt's residence and was incredibly nice. It even came with a houseman who cooked (aka warmed up soup!) , cleaned and did my laundry. Tried to put him in my luggage but he said no.
From the (very) little bit I could read of the local newspaper, no Swine Flu had been reported in Tijuana in previous weeks, but they did have recorded cases in the region now.
Truly, the experience was good. I would say to remember you are not in America anymore and there was once or twice the language barrier was inconvenient, but oh well. I just waited for an interpretor and everything was great. Also, there was 24-hour access to an interpretor if it was an emergency.
If you have any other questions, please PM me and I will answer them.
