SURGERY IN MEXICO... WHAT DO YOU DO FOR POST OP CARE?
Hey there!
So I've seen some great comments about surgery in Mexico. With that option... and with the lapband... how do you get fills and ect once you get home? I'm really interested to know from anyone that has come across this answer:)
I WOULD ALSO LOOOOOVE MORE DOC REFERRALS... Who is good, and who should you stay away from... is there a place where you can read documented complaints for these DOCs? Since it's in Mexico... anyone have any issues with ANYTHING?
Thanks
Sophia

I went to Dr. Aceves in Mexicali, Mexico. I had the sleeve done, as I did not want to mess with trying to find somewhere to get fills done.
I had the best experience I have every had with any of my sugeries.
Have had 3 surgeries in US, and there is no comparison. Dr. Aceves and his staff act like you are the only patient they have. He comes and his assistant Dr. Campos come by to see you atleast 4 times a day.
The hospital is so clean, I would dare say you could eat off the floors as they are that clean. The cleaning staff was there 24-7 cleaning.
Most people when you say you are going to Mexico for surgery look at you like you have lost your mind, but I had done my research and I knew I was going to one of the BEST DR'S and HOSPITALS in Mexico.
So I would suggest you do your research and I am sure you will find the best Dr. for you.

HI Sophia,
Well I'm getting my lap-band done in Aug in Mexico. I know many of the doctors will help you find a aftercare doctor. Another option is http://www.fillcentersusa.com/ . I know I found a list of the different doctors a while back but I'm not too sure on which website. Another website that will be useful for you besides this website is www.lapbandtalk.com. I researched the doctors I choose for about 6 months before I made up my mind. On OH you can also read reviews from patients of Mexican doctors...Im know many of the reviews are fake. But there are people on the website who are very helpful when it comes to surgery in mexico. (if you need help finding the link on OH..Ill message you how) So just talk to some of the doctors patients & do research like I did and you should be fine. I choose Dr. Aceves http://www.mexicolapband.com and have spoken to countless numbers of his patients on this website as well as others. Dr. Alberto Aceves, Dr. Joya, & Dr. Guillermo Alvarez were my top 3 doctors after doing my research. If you will like more info about the individual doctors or ways to find their former patients, I'll be more than willing to help you. I hope I was of some help to you.

Hi! So I was running into the same issues as you and was very fortunate to stumble across my doctor. I had the surgery performed by Thomas Umbach of Blossom Bariatrics in Henderson Nevada. Only, he met me in Mexico to do this, as I had no insurance coverage to help with the costs. He works in Mexico one week a month, but does all the follow up out of his NV clinic.
I almost booked a procedure with a Mexican doctor, but couldn't find any way to get the follow up, and was paranoid that no local doctor up here in AK would see me if I went to Mexico for the original procedure. I have a couple local physicians on hand that I've spoken to that will help me if I need something immediate, but most of my follow up care will be with Dr Umbach in NV.
He did an amazing job and I have nothing but rave reviews to give him and my surgery coordinators. I worked with Surgery Advisors to get arrange the procedure with Dr. Umbach.
I would rec commend this team to anyone and everyone. The whole experience was flawless!
Thanks!

I am having my lap band surgery in Monterrey Mexico on Tuesday. They provided me with all of the fill providers in Canada, but none are in my area. I also checked with the radiology department of my local hospital and two of the radiologists will do the fills. All I need is a requisition from my family doctor and I can go in for fills.

The hospital was beautiful and the people were really nice. I had my Lapband done in November 2008 and i was 23 years old. i have photos of the hospital on my facebook if your interested, u can add me to facebook with this link; www.facebook.com/kerryanne.thompson
For my fills i go to Toronto, for $5000 i get unlimited fills and de-fills for as long as i have my band, and i also get a nutrionist, and a wellness coach. Following surgery in mexico they provided a list of all the places in Canada and the U.S.A that will provide fills for mexico patients. I love my band, and though my body is slowly melting away it makes me happy!! i don't log onto here often, so if you want to contact me, do it threw my facebook.
