 Hello,

I have few questions about dr.Joya:
1) do you go back to the States with your blood test results, x-rays,etc.?
2) does dr. joya take an x-ray of the sleeve post-op?
3) if yes, any of you has shown it to a doctor in the States, and what are the eventual opinions of the sleeve?

In order words, I would like if another doc has commented the work of dr.joya.

Thanks!

1.  Dr. Joya does send you back with lab results, but they are in Spanish.

2.  Dr. Joya does a blue dye test but it is only looked at for leaks, I don't think it is recorded.

3.  My Doctors have no idea what the volume of my sleeve is even though they have 3 Cat Scans.    I have had a leak and 2 abscesses that I have been dealing with and they didn't show their ugly face until 5 weeks post op.  Dr. Joya does not return my email.

 Hello Jennifer,

I am really sorry to hear about that! I whish you a good recovery and hope you have a good support group with you in the States. Thanks for sharing it is important to remind us that those surgeries are very serious and that complications are sometimes a reality.

Take care

Thank you to you too,
In fact I want to know everything the good, the bad and the ugly. i would not trust a doctor who has only good testimonials.
Happy to know that you are doing fine. I wish you the best of luck!

If you want one of the best gastric sleeve surgeons, call Dr Horacio Guajardo.  He is in Monterrey and the only gastric sleeve surgeon the Hospital Christu Muguerza recommends to international patients.  He is board certified as well and that is a BIG PLUS and practices at JCI accredited hospitals.  His prices are very similar to Dr Joya and I know you will be very impressed when you speak to him.  Yes all reports come home with you.  He does do a leak test and can give you those results as well. He has good relationships with other docs and surgeons and if your doctor isn't educated about the sleeve, he will help follow your case with your doctor.

He stays in touch with all of his patients post op.

Give him a call.  1.800.545.8757 or www.drhoracio.com

Good luck.

I had surgery with Dr Joya on March 17, 2008 and have lost over 100lbs.  It was the best thing I have ever done.  I have no complaints about Dr Joya or the other staff.  I came home with all my blood work yes it was in Spanish but for the most part even I knew what they were talking about.  I was encourage to keep in contact with Dr Joya through Nathalie and even just got a follow up from another of his asisitants.  I have never had any complications.  I would definately recommend Dr Joya.

It will be the best thing you have ever done.  Well having children was the best thing for me but being slim and healthy enough to care and play with them, well as the saying goes.....priceless.  If you have any questions or want to talk them just give me an email.  [email protected] is my email address.

Good luck!!

I had a VSG with Dr. Joya in September, 2008.  He did do the leak test before I left and I was able to see my new tiny tummy in action.  It was great!  I have lost 57 lbs to date and have had no problems.  I did come home with my paperwork and it was all in English.  My primary care physician has done all of my follow up bloodwork and is very pleased with my results.  I have the world of confidence in Dr. Joya and recommend him highly.  Natalie and I e-mail regularly and she has answered all my questions.  I left with Dr. Joya's, his assistants, and Natalie's cell phone numbers.  I have had no problems getting a response from them.  I am just thrilled with my sleeve.  It is just what I needed!
