I had Dr Rod do my lap band on Jan 9 this year and everything about him and the hospital along with the stafff was excellent. The van picks you up and takes you right to the hospital, you pay, then pre op tests then to your room and off to surgery. My husband went with me and slept in my room. The room was big. My husband is 6'5" and had no problem sleeping on the guest bed in the room. My only suggestion is to bring a sleep mask as the windows are not covered and they take up a whole wall so the room is really bright! I also brought a travel pillow and ear plugs. My husband met other spouses and went out to eat and shop one pm with one of the male nurses. He had a great time. Sorry I didn't see your post earlier . Good Luck !

I've lost 28lbs...it was fast in the beginning but has slowed to about 1/2-1lb per week. I'v had one fill and scheduled another for April. It is a huge learning process. The trick for me is to do what everyone says...eat your solid protein FIRST...slowly and chew well. you will be too full to eat very much. However if you eat ice cream you could eat forever!! Weird but true for me. It is a psychological hike to get away from your favorite junk foods but well worth it and does get easier. Stay positive, read the message boards, and ask questions. We didn't see any violence... the hospital is beautiful and safe. Even when my husband went out it was only during the day and just across the street to eat or shop. I understand there is a greater prescence of military for the last few weeks. Don't worry and keep me updated I would love to know how you did. Are you driving? or flying?
