Dr. Almanza's April VSG Special. TO GOOD TO BE TRUE??
Hi all
Boy this thread is all over the place. The dates don't match. I decided to post so that people have choices. I had a great experience with Dr Almanza, in fact everyone that I have talked to that has had him has had a good experience. I still will answer any questions that people might have.

Hi Cristina
The clinic they are in is new and very nice, small but nice. They had several nurses that kept an eye on you before and after the surgery. When ou get there other people will be waiting to have their surgery too. Hopefully your husband will meet another hubby and have someone to talk to. I was the first one to have my surgery so when I got back out I got up and walked around as much as I could. I have found that the sooner you get up the faster you heal. I went by myself so I became the cheerleader for all of the rest of them waiting to have their surgery. The time went by very fast, and before we we knew it we were at our hotel. That evening Dr Bettancourt and a nurse and the drivers came by to check on me. I was already in my jammies and ready for bed. I said I felt great which I did. It was nice of them to come by and check on us.
The next morning they picked us up and took us back to the clinic to have a drink test done to make sure our bands were in place and not leaking. We then had breakfast and then we went shopping. I bought quite a few things, it was fun. After shopping we went back to the hotel and I took a nap. When I woke up I called and asked the other girls I had met there if they were hungry so we walked to a nearby restraunt and had broth and gatorade. I really was not hungry for over a week after surgery so having just broth did not bother me. We again were checked on that night. The next morning we were taken to the airport and flew home. Flying was a little uncomfortable and the trip from the airport home from all of the sitting but other than that it was a very low pain surgery. I had alot of gas for about a week which is normal, I just felt like my tummy was very bloated.
I had a wonderful experience and I know you will too! Keep me posted.

Yes there were 2 men who had the sleeve done and 2 other women who had the band that day. To be honest with you I wish that I would have had the sleeve. I had not really considered it like I should have. I might have a revision done next year, time will tell. I see you are having the sleeve, good choice. Good luck, how much weight do you have to lose, if you don't mind me asking. My goal was to lose 70 and I'm almost to 40, it comes off fast the first couple months especially.

Bernadette,
I am currently fluctuating between 255 - 265 (you know how that goes). My goal is to get down between 130-140. So I have 130lbs to lose. I can't remember the last time I was bellow 200 lbs. I originally was going to get the band but, I changed my mind after doing more research and comparing the two surgeries.
I am so anxious to get this surgery done. I would go next week if my schedule wasn't so crazy.
