Speaking of cost

Have any of you newer patients been able to get a lower price on WLS since the economy in the US is so bad right now?

If so, what was the price you got for the VSG surgery in Mexico?, and what was included in the package?

Thanks for your time.

I originally was going to have the VSG at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD but when my insurance came back denied to the VSG but approved for the RnY or Lapband that is when I researched out-of-pocket costs.  I knew I didn't want the RnY or Lapband and found out Hopkins charges $17K for the sleeve.  Then I checked out www.Ready4AChange.com and checked them thoroughly.  Made a decision to go with them and paid $10K out of pocket whi*****luded everything except for the airfare.  My surgery was on Jan 30th and as of today I have lost 24 pounds.  I'm very happy with my decision and I wish you luck with yours!

Hi there,
I had my gastric sleeve procedure in Mexico done at Obesity goodbye for $7,500 all inclusive (doctors, pre-ops, hospital) but the airfare, very reasonable considering..... I'm sure you will be happy with them, they're great! Good Luck!

Unfortunately, I think the cost of WLS in the U.S. is controlled by the hospitals.  Surgeon costs appear to be comparable.  It appears to be the cost of the hospital stay in the US versus the cost in Mexico which determines the total cost of the procedures.
