I am posting for a friend. She wants lapband and her insurance does not cover it. She is going to Puerto Vallarta in February for 6 days. I need info for her.
1. do you know of any good Dr's in that area
2. how much is lapband approx.?
3. does she have to go there beforehand to meet Dr. and then schedule surgery?

any other info would be great.

Although I am having VSG I know my Dr does the band.  His site is www.drjoya.com.  No she does not have to go there beforehand.  Everything is done over the phone and through email.

Dr Joya is in PV and he did my RNY , these are real Doctors and yes your friend will have to make all the arrangements prior to her visit to PV. It's not a walk in clinic it is a real medical practice, there is paperwork and scheduling, airfare and hotels to schedule. She should go to Dr Joya's website and contact Gerald to set it up.

I love Dr Joya he saved my life, and I got 13500 miles for using my mastercard LOL

I was banded by Dr Joya in Aug.  He is great!  Gerald helps with everything.  Have her contact him sooner than later.  Bet she'll be able to get in while she's there.  All inclusive is $8000, but if she already has a place to stay and airfare, it will be less.  Hosp was very nice! I am a nurse and it is nicer than most hospitals I have been in in the states.

I delivered 6 weeks early a 5lb 15oz lil boy:)  After spending 2 months on bed rest in the hospital and Mason spending 11 days in the NICU, we're both home and doing great!  Mason is getting bigger and gaining weight like he should.  Now it's my turn to lose this weight!  It's tough to get back on the band wagon...I CAN do this!
