Questions about surgery

My husband needs to have WLS. He has diabetes and high

blood pressure. He is at least 130 pounds overweight. He has tried every

diet program you can think of and has had no success. He now wears an

insulin pump due to not getting good control with shots or pills.

His insurance will in no way shape or form cover WLS.

He has drawn money out of his 401K to be self pay. We are

looking at using Dr. Joya in Mexico. I plan to go with him. I am looking

for detailed events if you used Dr. Joya.

Does all inclusive have hidden costs? Will I be able to get booked

on the same flight as my husband?

Will I stay with him each night, will that cost extra. Is there someone to

talk to when I call them that speaks english? Just trying to get some info

before we call Dr. Joya's office.

Thank you so much for any information

The price includes all costs except for complications. However, I understand that now there is (for an extra $500.00) complication insurance, which I think is a good idea...even though I had no complications.

There are a few (but no many) extra costs to consider.  Your plane ticket (not your husbands) and your food/water while there.  Taxi cabs (about $4-$6 per trip) are not included. Also any souveniers or other incidentals you might buy while there.

You can stay the night your husband's hospital room...at least you could when I had surgery last year and it was not extra.  Gerald, who is Dr Joya's contact, speaks perfect english so you should not have any troubles when calling the office.  He is very nice and will answer all your questions.  I think he also will book you on the same flight if you request it.

I was desperate for details prior to surgery so I decided to do a detailed blog after surgery.   Here is the link:   www.bluepetels.blogspot.com

Hope this helps.  Feel free to PM me if you more questions.

Thank you so much for responding to my post.
I have not been able to get to your blog yet
it keeps saying it has been removed?
But I do appreciate you taking time to talk to me.
It sounds like you would go to Dr. Joya again.
We are planning on contacting his office
next week.
Thanks again

Life is too short to wake up with regrets.
So love the people who treat you right..
Forget about the one's who don't.
Believe everything happens for a reason.
If you get a second chance, grab it with both hands.

If it changes your life, let it.
Nobody said life would be easy,

they just promised it would be worth it.

I would definitely go back to Dr Joya.  My experience there was excellent.

It is strange that the Blogspot was saying my blog was removed.  Maybe they were working on the site at the time.  I can get into it now.

I wish you and your husband all the best.
