Little known California Law

California has a law on the books that I just found out about. Did you know, that EVEN if your medical insurance has an iron clad bariatric exclusion that California state law says the HAVE TO COVER IT if it is medically necessary per NIH (bmi over 40 and over 35 w/comorb.) standards. So if they deny it it must go to a medical review and more than likely be overturned. SO if you had your surgery done I would look into getting reimbursed by your insurance. The only reason is I am fighting my husbands insurance ( re-do) and the rep from Cigna told me that it will go to a medical review board and as long as it is medically necessary I will win. Just thought I'd share, feel free to share any monies you get re-reimbursed if you are feeling generous!! LOL. Good Luck. Louise
