Hi everyone.  I will be in Mexico soon with someone using Dr. Alvarez.   While there, I would like to investigate plastic surgeons for the future.  Any suggestions on some surgeons I could contact while there.  I would prefer surgeons in Dr. Alvarez's area, if that's possible.  Thanks for all of your comments. Where is Dr. Alverez?  My Lapband surgeon in Tijuana refered me to a Plastic Surgeon in Mexico. His webaite is http://www.drjaviergarcia.com.  I have met him and he is an english speaking.  That is all I can tell you.  I hope it is helpful.

Thanks Eugene.  Alvarez is located in Piedras Negras about 2.5 hours below San Antonio.  I will check into Dr. Garcia.  I have heard his name before. Thanks again! Patti

Be careful Coolbreeze...from the amount of Posts that you make supporting Verboonen and Garcia some people might start to think that you are a Patient Coordinator!!! I mean...all one has to do is click on the see previous posts link next to your name!!

You and I think the same.  But it seems that some of the people are new to the Mexico forum and ask questions about the same questions time and time again.  I was going to reply to a post one time telling the person to read about 5 or 6 previous posts back and most of their questions would be answered.   After I thought for a minute I figured it may be someone new to learning how to research for information or new to computer usage and I did not want to come off as rude and not helpful.  That is the reason for this site is to share information and experiences to make others journeys less hectic and stressful.  When I reply I usually look up my latest posts, cut and paste, and add any additional information that I may deem important.  I know that I have responded to," Who was your doctor?, How was your experience?, and Did your dpctor speak English?", at least 10 or 12 times, including Personal Messages.  So I am not a Patient Coordinator but I do try to make the next persons journey and reservations about the WLS easier than mine. I am sorry but I don't buy it... 1. You Never post on the Band Board and when you do it's only to talk about Verboonen and Mexico...someone as new to the band as you claim to be would most likely be posting on the board to ask questions about your future with the band but you don't. 2. You'r posts are only about Verboonen and Garcia...you make your profile Private so no one can know anything about you or give you any support...which anybody that's going through weight loss surgery is in constant need of.. I am convinced that you are only on here to support Verboonen..a Doctor that has been to Prison for Insurance Fraud and was Arrested by the FBI.. so..that's where I stand!!

KenMan again…you do not have to buy it because I am not trying to sell anything.  You say that I only post on the Band Board to support my Dr. but I have not been on the Band Board in about 2 months.  You say that I should be asking questions on the Band Board but I have my support group that answers my questions.  You have been banded for 3 weeks and speak as the expert on what people should and shouldn’t do with access to the OH message board.  But I do see that you have been a member for several years and maybe that makes you feel exceptionally knowledgeable. You say my profile is Private because I do not want people to know about me but my profile is not Private.  I deleted my original profile for security reasons, EugeneC, and OH say they do not know why it does not open.  I plan on creating another one when I have the time and hopefully that makes you feel better.  As for Dr. Garcia as I state in my post, I have only MET with him and discussed non-WLS concerns.

When someone asks about WLS in I can only offer my experience which was a positive one and that is why I am on the forum.  You obviously did some detailed investigation and can offer negative information on Huacuz, Betancourt, Belitemexico, Verboonen, Ortiz…etc. If I had information about “insurance fraud” I would not have chose him but I did and every day when I get out of bed and take that first step, I am thankful that I did.

Each person, on this site, is here for their own unique reasons.  Each person should share any helpful information or support when someone asks for it be it positive or negative. My issues deal with physical limitations that hinder me from getting the most out of this surgery.  I have about 20 friends dealing with similar cir****tances and we motivate each other.  This is why I am on this site and if it does not fit into your model, so be it.

RNY on 05/27/08 with
I was glad to hear and see your post and this is the post I made about 10 minuters ago... tell me what you think??? Shawna Am i loosin it or is this place??????   Ok so i am researching Doctors to do the RNY and came across a forum on here to look at www.mylapbandsurgery.com   and was going through the forums and seen a ad for surgery with: http://www.mylapbandsurgery.com/mlbsstore/index.php?option=c om_wrapper&Itemid=41    at Betancourt Medical Center in Tijuana, Mexico  with Dr Lopez, & Dr Jose Rodriguez I called them to get more info and to check the cost and she told me that I don't qualify for a RNY because your BMI has to be over 60  I started to laugh and she asked me what was funny and then she said that it had to be that way because bypass surgery was SOO evasive that they only do it on the extreme overweight. I asked her again if ehr and I were on the same page of weight loss and she repeated it to me then said, it is harsh and you only have a life expectancy of 5-7 years after the surgery if you have the bypass and that they rarely do it anymore because of that. I went no further, said thank you for your time trying not to say something like "are you crazy" this is to help you put more years on your life!!! I just wanted to share with everyone that experience and to warn you AGAINST this place if you are trying to get the RNY. Has anyone had this same experience there and then again maybe she was new or was havin a bad day????
