I have a problem with any doctor that believes it is okay to steal from others.  I wouldn't go to a doctor that does not have the morality to earn his own money vs. stealing it from others.  I don't care if that doctor is in the US or Mexico. I agree with you that we cannot be promised a complication free surgery.  Sometimes the docs do a textbook OR case and stuff happens anyway.  Doctors cannot control every aspect of a patient's hospital stay, if that was the case nobody would ever die in a hospital. But that wasn't the case with the revision surgery.  He messed up and it may cost the person her life.

I doubt it, I never asked.  Thing is, there is very little a US citizen can do regarding lawsuits in Mexico.  They *can* sue, they just won't win. That's why it is so important to go to a doctor that has a great reputation, a spotless background, and someone who has a reputation worthy of doing anything necessary to maintain it.  The doctors with the great reputations earned those reps, they earned them by taking good care of patients and performing safe surgeries.  The docs with poor reputations take what business they can get and deal with it.  Or, like Betancourt Medical they charge the lowest possible fees for surgery.  Those types depend on people shopping for price regardless of history and license revocation.

I've never heard of this doctor before.  Do you have a website address for him?  How many bands has he done?  Where is he?

Belite is a booking agency.  They recruit and schedule patients and charge a doctor a fee for doing so.  Many docs in Mexico use them. Belite does not have the greatest of reputations lately, they seem to be busier than they can keep up with but they aren't the folks doing your surgery anyway.  They are just paid patient coordinators. Verboonen has a verrrry iffy past and I'm not just referring to his jail time. You seriously need to do a LOT of research to find a good doctor.  Did you read the thread on how to research a Mexican surgeon?
